I want to cancel my email address entirely and have a whole new one, including the windows messenger. Do I have to have a new phone number to do that?

Its through sbcglobal.net. I called the DSL tech support yesterday and they said that I had to change my phone number, so I decided against it. They have given me incorrect information in the past so I just wanted to make sure.

can you not have more than one screen name thru sbc? i can have 7 thru cox, i think

They may not let you cancel the email address if it is your main one. The solution would be to just stop using it and make up a new one.

you can change email addresses as often as you change underwear

i'd suggest gmail or yahoo, since it's not dependent on your job, school or ISP it never has to change if you change your job, move, etc...
