SETTING THE STAGE: OU and Navy face off tonight in the first of two games this weekend…Oklahoma traveled to Annapolis last season to play the Midshipmen…Navy won the first game 4-2 but the Sooners gained a lot of character in the second game, coming back late in the third period from a 3-0 deficit to tie the game at 3-3 and having the better scoring opportunities in the five minute overtime…This is the first trip into Oklahoma City for Navy to play OU in hockey.

OKLAHOMA NOTES: The Sooners are currently ranked 17th in the nation in the latest ACHA D1 Coaches ranking…In the unofficial computer poll of ACHA D1 teams, OU is ranked 13th in the nation…The Sooners played last week, splitting a pair of games with No. 7 Weber State University, losing the first game 4-2 but coming back to take the second game 5-1…All seven goals last weekend were scored by seven different Sooners…Sophomore forward Matt Pangrac continues to lead the Sooners in goals scored with 13 and in total points scored with 20…Junior forward Justin Hall leads the Sooners in assists so far this season with 14…Defenseman Bryan Jewell leads the team in penalty minutes with 75…Junior goaltender Aaron Schmeilski has a record of 8-7-2, a 2.50 GAA and a .913 save percentage through 17 games this season.

NAVY NOTES: The Midshipmen are currently unranked in the ACHA D1 Coaches poll but would be 22nd if the ranking was extended that far…Navy is 28th in the unofficial computer poll of ACHA D1 teams…Navy lat played last weekend when they hosted No. 3 University of Rhode Island, coming close but ultimately losing the games to URI by scores of 3-2 (OT) and 4-3, respectively…Navy’s scoring attack is led by forward Kevin Krmpotich who has 11 goals and 11 assists through 19 games this season…Krmpotich is followed by Patrick Sullivan (12-6-18), Jay Alspach (10-6-16) and Chris Schnappinger (4-8-12)…In net, senior goaltender Ryan Dobie has a GAA of 2.89 and a save percentage of .892…Navy defenseman Joe Liles is the younger brother of NHL Colorado Avalanche defenseman John-Michael Liles.
