A visit to Pete's for lasagna, spaghetti, ravioli, garlic bread and salad.:) Good to be home again. Of course, a trip to the Isle of Capri isn't bad either.

Had to go to Lovera's to pick up some Italian bread to take home, along with a few other goodies, like string cheese. If you haven't been to Krebs, you need to go!

I would love me some fried chicken from Giacomo's for lunch.

Then to Lovera's for some Caciocavallo cheese.

The honeybuns at the Exxon are out of this world!

Man, Pete's Place. I haven't been there in over 20 years. It was terrific then, and I'm sure it is terrific now.

I went to Krebs for the first time last Oct/Nov. Ate at Roseanna's, bought some caciocavallo cheese at Lovera's....all good stuff.

Haven't tried Pete's, but have heard it's overrated. But Choc beer rocks the house.

Try Giacomo's or Isle of Capri if you ever go back. Pete's has become much more average over the last decade or so.

what is Isle of Capri?

When I hear that, I think of the worst casino in KC.

Sorry folks but Giancomo's was nothing more than a smoke-filled dive to me. I really expected a lot more on my first visit but, must've been seated in the worst corner on the worst night of the week. It looked like someone's nightmare out a 60's lounge in there.

Pete's has always been good to me but, most everyone is right when they say it has been slipping.

Isle of Capri is a very good place and Roseanna's is the hidden gem in town. And yes, Lovera's gets my nod for Italian groceries.

All in all, that's a lot of Italian in one small town!

Say, did you know Primo's gets a large majority of their pasta and meat from Pete's? Yep, accoridng to the Yukon store manager, they truck it in daily.

That whole side of K.C., looking west and to the north from the IOC looks crappy in the wintertime.

On a side note, there is now a Giacomo's in Durant. However, locals give the nod to Roma's on the corner of 1st and Main.

and on another side note, Los Dos Amigos opened yesterday in Pauls Valley, which I believe with put a little hurt on Tio's (someone needed to). Also, Chicken Express opened on Monday. TWO NEW PLACES IN ONE WEEK! A freakin Metropolis around here!

I'll have to try that Choc beer. I always steered away from it before, no good reason. I tried Heuberts made in OKC and it tasted like lemon pledge. Hopefully it was jus a bad bottle. I wasn't impressed though.

We need some good beer brewers in Oklahoma. Glad to hear Pete's Choc beer is good.

When my dad was a youngin' (back in the 50s), he and my grandpa would pass thru Krebs every weekend on their way to "the ranch". They'd go thru there about 11:00 on saturday mornings, and Pete's of course wasn't open 'til dinner time. They knew one of the waitresses there, she'd let them in, and sit them at a little table in the kitchen to eat. An order of lamb fries was a quarter, and it was a HEARTY order (WAY more than what you get now for $15 or so). I grew up going there for special occasions, and loved it. But the last few times I've been there (over the past 5 years or so) it has REALLY gone downhill. TOOOOOOO overpriced and the quality of food has gone way down. Plus our waitress, think her name was Carrie, died of cancer several years ago and it just wasn't the same after that.
