Got an e-mail from the president of the agency today stating that this was "just for discussion purposes, but.."

Salary: 6 months at $5000/month, then $2500/month afterwards with renegotiation at month 18.

Commission: First 6 months, 0% unless GDC is $10k/month. After $10k of GDC, 50% of GDC but no salary. After 6 months, 50% GDC new business and 25% on renewal business. Plus, any "experienced" producer who helps close my business receives a 25% commission on new business for the first 18 months (this does not come out of my cut, the agency pays this.)

Sounds pretty good to me....but then, I only make 24K a year.

I don't think gdc is $10k/month. Nobody from Tahlequah makes that kind of money

6 months is a long time to get by on only $5000/mo. But if you can do it, go for it.

Unfortunately that is true.

This is a good point. Froze, don't be afraid to ask the board for help in these first 6 months of poverty. We can take donations and send care packages containing crackers, bottled water, toothpaste, deodorant, a tent, etc.

You let us know, buddy.

Well, I can write a check for one right now...

With cost of living what it is here, $5k a month is like $4k a month in Norman. I ain't rich by any means. $5k/month is actually a pay cut for me right now, but it's enough for me to cover my bills and not have to worry about money.

I was just joking. I was pretty sure you wouldn't starve or be living in the street on $5k/month as someone else implied.

That does sound good, but keep in mind that Froz' is talking in terms of Alaskan dollars. What is the exchange rate into American dollars?

What is the going rate for a nice igloo currently?

More like $3k in Norman (according to homefair.com). Sounds like the job has potential if you're able to continue your success in gaining and retaining business.

Air temps in Fairbanks get to 60 below. As in below zero. As in AIR TEMP! That's not wind chill.

That is so. not. right. I 'member back in '95 when Tower, MN (or was it Embarrass? ) set the Minnesota record for lowest ever temp (60 below) ... those people were freakin' nuts. Having parties out in the park to celebrate the new record! Standing out there when it was -60 and throwing boiling water in the air and watching it freeze in mid-air. Freakin' weirdos.

Anyone that would live in such a place is :eddie: -level nuts.

I, on the other hand, that only lived in a place that saw -40, am perfectly sane. http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y52/ToddG/snoot.gif
