once again we get to hear about miss marbles in the mouth (michelle wei) and her unearned quest to make a pga cut.

I DON'T CARE!!!!!! SHE'S NEVER WON ANYTHING!!!! NOT EVEN FOR HER OWN GENDER!!!!!!!

what hacks me off is that she's taking a spot FROM A MAN!!! who NEEDS to make a living on the PGA TOUR.... not the LPGA tour.

They're just doing it for the ratings. I like watching golf but watching women play golf is like watching them play basketball, just not the same.

Although I don't know that anyone actually needs to make a living on the PGA tour. There are plenty of other career paths available.

If she's a sponsor's exemption, which I think she has been for the PGA tournaments she's been in so far, she's not really taking a players place is she?

My cousin refused comment after meeting her in Hawaii the other day to discuss her Nike deal.

not sure, but she still shouldn't be there.

Might want to wait till she's legal, or you will be the one getting hit...Brokeback Mountain style.

Let's suppose that Michelle Wie weighed about 50 more pounds than she does and had a face like a pepperoni pizza (in other words, looked like 90% of the tour players on the Dykes On Spikes Tour)..

would she be getting these sponsor exemptions?

She looks like this...

If instead, she looked like this?...

There is no way she would be getting any sponsor exemptions or would have played on the men's tour.

The corporations who are giving her sponsor exemptions are simply awarding her looks and the fact that they believe we horny men will come out to the course or watch teevee (and their commercials) if Wie is playing.

(by the way, the second pic is Betsy King, one of hte better women golfers of all time.. who... I believe, never played on the men's tour.)

She probably didn't have the rare skills at age 15 that Michelle Wie has either. That's probably also part of it.

Part of the fascination with Wie does have to do with her looks.

The bigger part of it is that she can hit the ball further than some of the guys on the PGA tour, and she's only 16 years old. Doesn't mean she has the complete game to compete at that level though.

She doesn't have the complete game to win on the LPGA Tour let alone the big boys tour. That's right.. ZERO wins on the LPGA Tour.

Well, at least, like Tiger she won some collegiate tournaments.. uh.. well. No.. she hasn't.

Ok, she proved her mettle on the Nike Tour.. uh.. well.. no, she didn't.

Uh.. ok.. she won a lot of amateur events.. uh.. well... no.

Hell.. win something first, win anything. The only thing she has won is a nice endorsement contract from Sony and Nike, but, that's about it.

Go out and prove you got game first. EARN the spotlight instead of simply having it given to you. As long as she keeps her looks and corporate shills think we'll keep watching, sideshow events like this will continue since it's not based on merit.

If it's going to be based on merit, then, Annika Sorensteim should be the only one receiving sponsor's exemptions.
