This was my 10 year old first system and now my 3 year old is wanting to start playing games. So we broke out the super Nintendo and gosh those were the days. My oldest upgraded to a playstation shortly before turning 4 and has been a gamer all his life but my youngest is having trouble grasping the control usage.

Side note.
you guys think payin' 400-500 for the x-box 360 or when the new playstation3 comes out is bad. do you remember the cd-i?
I actually bought one of those right outta highschool back in 92 and it cost darn near a grand. talk about a waste of money.

I would say wait for the second-generation XBox 360s (after they tweak a couple of issues). A lot of people will argue hardware vs. software, and all kinds of crap, but I'm a Halo junkie, and that means XBox.

Hey, if I want realism in my FPS games, I'll go join the Marines. I want plasma rifles and ****.

I went skiing last week, and the condo we stayed at had an old-school 1st gen Nintendo.

I remember Super Mario Bros being a lot more fun than it is. Also, Contra is hard.

Man, you want hard? Try Gradius 3 without any cheat codes. ;)

oumartin
1/11/2006, 06:10 PM
thats something else. why the heck you need cheat codes? my boy is back and forth between the computer and his games all the time. if you can't win w/o them are you really winning

They didn't have Gradius 3, but if it's harder than Contra...

Out.

I carjacked somebody the other day. It wasn't as much fun as it is in Grand Theft Auto. Your wanted level doesn't go down in real life if you just drive around for awhile. :O

If I was going to take something from GTA into real life, it would be to get healthier from spending time with hookers.:texan:

Remember the NCAA Basketball game? Now that was way ahead of its time.
One of the greatest days I've ever had with the SNES was the day I picked up Tecmo Super Bowl in the mall when I was in college and me and some of my buddies wasted the rest of the day playing TSB.
Good times, good times.

We got the "new" Atari a couple of weeks ago; same fake wood panel sticker, same impossible joysticks. And the sad thing is that I'm still bad at the same games. Also slightly disappointed to find out that Pitfall really is just 20 minutes of swinging on a vine over crocs. But it turns out my son is better than my husband at Centipede.

I've been surfing the net tonight trying to get my PSP to play a NES emulator. It's tough. Anyone have any suggestions?

Halo 1 was the Grail of FPS.

Halo 2 not so much.

my mom got me a toy for x-mas (apparently she still thinks i'm 12) - an atari "system" with a bunch of the original games (40+). kind of a cool little gift... and a riot to play the old games - missle command, pitfall, adventure...

I think my parents still have an old Sega Genesis system. We played Madden Football or something all the time on it.

I oughta see if I can get it from them and find some old games for my girls.

We had an old NES and Super NES too, but I think we gave them away or sold them a while back. If I had only known . . .

Halo 2 not so much.

You're just mad because they decided having the pistol be the weapon of choice was silly. ;)

Halo 2's single-player mode is way better, and X-Box live rocks.

oh Homey how I remember the Intelevision. IN fact I have a cd rom that plays alot of the old games like Astrosmash. the only game that it doesn't have that I really miss was the baseball game. to me its still the best baseball game ever made.

YOU WERE THE GUY!!!! :D

Heh, I worked for Tandy at the time and did some work on their VIS (
Video Information System), designed to compete with the CD-I. You think the CD-I was a bomb... ;)

Two words biznachos: Mattel Intellivison.

Word.

The problem with most of the "retro" versions of that system is that they don't have the original overlays and are thus nigh unplayable. I've heard that they're releasing a version for the DS, though, where the overlays will be available from the second screen.

hey, the tetris game kicked arse on cd-i and the zelda game was good too.
then there was the voyeur game where there was almost xes in it. Just enuff to get me to buy the darn thing.
I think I sold the whole thing for like 20.00.
