Since the turn of the century, the Big XII has been fairly well represented. Here is a rundown of how many teams each conference has put in the BCS Championship game (and the record) starting with the 2000 season:

Big XII - 5 (2-3)
Pac 10 - 2 (1-1)
Big East - 2 (1-1)*
ACC - 1 (0-1)*
SEC - 1 (1-0)
Big Ten - 1 (1-0)

No THREE conferences have combined for more appearances than the Big XII.** On top of that, the Big XII has put 3 different teams in the title game, while the rest of the nation has only accounted for 5. And while an argument could be made that there were a couple of years that a Big XII team shouldn't have been in the title game, the fact remains that there's only been one year when the Big XII hasn't been represented in the game.

That's not too shabby.

*The Big East's lone representative, Miami, is now a member of the ACC.

**Unless you add Miami to the ACC total.

That is great and all, but I am still sad about being 1 out of 3 in the big game. :(

Edited, Dont get me wrong, I am thrilled we have the one, I just wish the other two would have been a different outcome.

What about Florida State in '00? I don't see them counted under ACC.

Oops - thought you counted Miami as the ACC.

Well, in all fairness...the story changes a little when you look at the other 3 BCS games each year. There's only been one year when we've had two, right?

Actually, I just stumbled across this blurb (which takes into account the BCS years before 2000):

The Big Ten Conference has placed the most teams (11) in BCS bowls. The Big 12 and Southeastern conferences each has had 10 teams in BCS bowls. In four of the seven seasons of the BCS, the Big Ten has had a team selected as an at-large team.

That was before this year, though, when the Big Ten added two more to the Big XII and SEC's 1.
