Since the turn of the century, the Big XII has been fairly well represented. Here is a rundown of how many teams each conference has put in the BCS Championship game (and the record) starting with the 2000 season:
Big XII - 5 (2-3)
Pac 10 - 2 (1-1)
Big East - 2 (1-1)*
ACC - 1 (0-1)*
SEC - 1 (1-0)
Big Ten - 1 (1-0)
No THREE conferences have combined for more appearances than the Big XII.** On top of that, the Big XII has put 3 different teams in the title game, while the rest of the nation has only accounted for 5. And while an argument could be made that there were a couple of years that a Big XII team shouldn't have been in the title game, the fact remains that there's only been one year when the Big XII hasn't been represented in the game.
That's not too shabby.
*The Big East's lone representative, Miami, is now a member of the ACC.
**Unless you add Miami to the ACC total.
