I've heard about something like this before. Won't cooking oil go rancid after a time? The one I heard of used mineral oil.

And they learned a little about wicking and siphoning when they noticed that their mouse was dripping oil. It appears that it was traveling down the inside of the cable from the oil storage bin and into the mouse.

Now remind me.......what kind of oil do they use in the large transformers? I'm thinking some kinda of petroleum based light weight oil and it used to have PCP's and/or some other hazardous material in it.
