Sorry to spill the beans, but I can't let it go unnoted that our very own Homey OWNED the Tulsey law school in his first semester. Now all the rest of the 1Ls will want to study with "Pops." Nice jorb, Homester!

But what do I know.

it is if there is only one......but he was referring to "all those"....meaning plural

so one = courts-martial

two or more = courts-martials...

Congrats. Just don't let being on the law review impair the daily history lesson.

So.. a future Editor-in-Chief of the Law Review... Excellent.. well done.. nicely played.

NOW.. do NOT sit in the front row, with your arm in the air the entire class period , wanting to (A). Answer a question or (B). Ask a question.. in every class !!

Congrats.

I really think that's right. "Courts" makes it plural, "martial" is an adjective meaning "military."
Singular: court-martial
Plural: courts-martial

I have no authority for that at this time. But Keith "Times-out" Jackson agrees with me. :)

I don't think being a defendant counts as expertise! :D

i think your plural definition is probably right, now that i think about it

however......never a defendant, but i read and used it plenty

After two Article 15s, and two 45-day stints in the 82nd Airborne Correctional Custody Facility, I know my way around the UCMJ a little. Consider me a jailhouse lawyer.....

Chances are my old boss, Col A.J. "Tony" Bonfanti either prosecuted or defended. He was an 82nd Airborne parachuting lawyer type for many years. (As I recall, though, the name did not ring a bell with you.)

I never ended up going "before" a judge. My discipline was handled by the C.O. and the Battalion Commander. Both of my little dealios also had some monetary penalties (half a months pay for 3 months) and a suspended sentence (bust to private E-1). I could have fought them and ended up in a "courts-martial" but decided against it. Hell man, I was busted with the goods.

Glad I did it that way. Ended up getting out as an E-4 with an honorable discharge after completing my entire tour. Lots of the guys I was in with weren't so fortunate. One guy is probably still in Leavenworth.

Right move for sure. My nephew called me up once and said he got busted for underage drinking on the post and that he wanted to fight it. I told him to suck it up, take his Article 15 punishment, and get over it. Now he's glad he did.
