View Full Version : Who have you seen in concert?

Bama/OU

My wife and I were talking about concerts tonight and I realized I've seen some pretty good ones. Here is my list pretty much in order that I saw them. I think the last concert I went to was in 2002.

Ted Nugent (did he really f*ck her on stage as it appeared?)
Molly Hatchet (opened for Ted)

Hank Williams, Jr. (rowdy rednecks)

Charlie Daniels Band (I think they were the same rowdy rednecks)

Guns & Roses (loudest concert)
Soundgarden (opened for GNR)

Crosby, Stills & Nash (mellow)

Moody Blues (even more mellow)

Steve Miller Band (live sounded better than CD)

Godsmack (worst concert)

U2 (best concert)
Rage Against the Machine (opened for U2)

Korn (still partially deaf from bagpipes inside small arena)

Violent Femmes (it was okay, I wouldn't have missed much)

Ozzy Osbourne (he must have said "I can't f*cking hear you" at least 127 times)

I tend to go see the same acts over and over, like Rush, Cheap Trick, Ted Nugent, but I've been to hundreds of shows over the years, and I've forgotten many of them.

First: Billy Squire (NTTAWWT) in 1983 or so.

Most Recent: Steely Dan in 1994

In-Between: Dozens of shows... mostly 80s metal at the LNC or the Amarillo Civic Center. I've got a trunk full of old pirated concert Ts to prove it.

Best: Jimmy Buffet, with Moody Blues coming in a close 2nd.

Thats all I can remember right off hand. As a child, my parents took me to hear some of their favorites, whom I'm still very fond of. Artists like Frank Sinatra, Louis Armstrong, Tony Bennett, Mantovani, Patsy Cline and a couple others. They loved music. Daddy had a reel to reel and a console stereo. He rigged up an elaborate speaker system and played music throughout the house during my childhood years. I still have that stereo. It has a radio and plays albums and 8 tracks. :D

I just went to see Keane not too long ago. That was the first concert I had been to in ages. It was small crowd and they were great. I would love to see Jimmy Buffet just once in my lifetime.

Ozzfest '97 (Pantera, Ozzy and Black Sabbath kicked ***, everyone else kinda sucked)
Kid Rock (2x, the second time was kinda disappointing)
Tenacious D (was GA, had to make sure i wasn't behind Frank Romero in the crowd)
Evanescence (was about 3 people away from Amy Lee, could see the stubble in her underarms)
Snoop Dogg (wasn't impressed, and i kinda like a lot of his stuff)
Red Hot Chili Peppers (John Fruschante stole the show)
Pearl Jam (finally, they never play around here :( )
Fleetwood Mac (grew up with these guys, awesome show)
Eagles (this show didn't hit me until later, along with Zeppelin, these guys are just part of me or something)
White Stripes (best show i've seen, wondering if they will ever play within 300 miles of here again )
Metallica (2x my ears are still ringing from the pyro before One at the Ford Center)
Godsmack (dueling drum solos with Sully Erna was awesome)
Linkin Park (with Metallica at Texas Stadium, Live In Texas was recorded there)
Limp Bizkit (man, i'm sick of these guys... also at Texas Stadium)
Deftones (same deal... we were late and missed Mudvayne, they sounded ok from outside)
Simon and Garfunkel (last year at the AA center)
Sarah McLachlan (she was sick, still sounded great)
Robert Plant at Cain's (i didn't see Page/Plant in the late 90's, i'm still ****ed. that's about as close i ever was to see Led Zeppelin in concert)
Nickle Creek (the cover of Britney's Toxic was pretty good :D )
Ben Folds (at the LNC)

Iron, how were The Wallflowers in concert? I always thought they were ok, but REALLY like their last CD.

It was a really fun show. Saw them in '96 at Gallagher-Iba (had friends going to OSU that got me tickets). Got floor seats and marvelled at how everybody, including old people, were dancing in the aisles. Lot of fun. I think that was my first real concert too.

Regarding their CDs, their first didn't do much for me, their second (bringing down the horse) was great, 3rd was good, 4th is crap, and their new one I really like. I picked it up a few weeks ago and it's become a road trip staple.

I still really want to see Bon Jovi and U2. Since I was 12 those have been my top two must-see shows. I'm still thrilled I got to see Van Halen and Mellencamp. Classics.

I once slept through Molly Hatchett, in the back seat of my car, in the parking lot of Tulsa City Limits.

Atlanta Rhythm Section did a show at my junior high because we collected the most gum wrappers for a contest, or something like that.

Sammy Hagar

I've only been to two concerts my entire life. The first was some drug free concert with a quasi-rock band made up of off duty cops. It was a 5th grade field trip and the noise of several thousand kids was unbearable.

The 2nd concert was Weird Al and he rocked da house!
