Boston by a mile. I saw Boston at the Tulsa convention center about 10 years ago. Good show but not as loud as I expected. At one point, the keyboard player went off and started playing some Bach for a couple of minutes forcing some dude in front of my to start yelling "Play some f***ing rock and roll, dammit!"

Did Boston do "Fire on High", or anything close to as good as that? I don't understand the appeal of Boston. ELO all the way!

I don't wanna see those two fight. It took my 12 years of marriage to finally get my wife to listen and enjoy E.L.O. and my favorite rock song of all time is More than A feeling.
If I wanna listen to music at home its E.L.O. but if i wanna drive fast its Boston.

At one time I would have said Boston, but I've heard so much Boston since 1976 that if a Boston song comes on the radio I want to blow up the radio station to prevent them from ever playing Boston again, and then hunt down and eliminate the program director so that he/she cannot move on to another station and play Boston.

Tom Scholz is the antithesis of corporate sellout. He sold a lot of records because he made some damn fine rock and roll his way.

There was a time when you could have driven around in a convertible with the top down and the radio blaring Boston and you would have been way cool. Now, everybody just looks at you and says "Check out the old fart".

When you speak of Boston, you have to mean the 2-album band of the late 70s (not the disaster that has happened since then). On those 2 albums, Boston created the ultimate TransAm soundtrack. Guitar laden testosterone rock. You'd better part your hair down the middle and blow dry it fluffy. I think of the significance of Boston in terms of the muscle car. This was a huge band for its time period and it's remnants can still be found in muscle car shops accross America.

ELO is not as clear a story. They had the Chicago-esque stylings to some of their music, but a great deal of diversity. It's hard to define ELO's style and most people couldn't identify one of their album covers. For the pop listener (and not hardcore fan), they had some entertaining classical-inspired keyboards, mixed with mildish 70s rock and the outward look of a pack of disco coke-heads. This was less of a trend setter and image maker and more of a mashup unit.

I have to go Boston. It defines at least one year of my adolesence and is almost as crystal clear as a trend-setter as pop-rock bands like AC/DC or early Van Halen. They are a known quantity. Maybe in some sense, it's my viewpoint that Boston fans got laid. ELO, the Who, the Kinks - sorry you weren't going anywhere without the help of a coke stash.

No offense meant to anyone here. You are all welcome to disagree.

Define "everybody".

Every - meaning all
Body - meaning people

Crank up Boston and the kids will think you are old. The middle aged people will think that you are middle aged because that is what they listened to. The old people, if they can still hear, may think that you are young. But if they are able to hear, they will say that you are much older than the young people who are driving around listening to hip-hop and rap cranked up. Hence, everybody.
