.....several times in the last week, I saw a cat getting ready to lay down for a nap. Before it laid down, it moved it's front feet up and down in a marching motion for at least 3 minutes. Why would this cat do this? Do all cats do this?

Did you put scotch tape on its feet?

If not, have no idea.

yeah, it's kneading... all cats do this, but I'm not really sure why... I think it's to make their bed fluffier

I thought the cat was "mentally challanged"....

I think it has something to do with their instict going back as a wee little kitten when they sucked the teet.

That's a trick question, considering most of the pet owners on this board are dumber than their pets. :D

Why does a cat knead?

If your cat is kneading it means they are happy and content. Quick background, young kittens need to stimulate their mom’s mammary glands in order to have the milk flow. So they knead on her. Once they grow, the behavior is a demonstration of happiness and contentment. Keep kitty purring. Simba

All cats are weird. I've had mine for almost a year and I still can't figure out why she does the strange **** she does.

What does it mean when a cat craps on your couch every night?

It means that you sit on the couch with ripped undies too often.

The cat thinks you two are fighting over the territory.;)

That answer, coupled with Harry's user name, is disturbing.

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking, but the wife isn't quite ready yet. After cleaning it up this morning, I told my wife she'd better figure out what she wanted to do because I'm ready to take the thing for a long drive.

p.s. They're brand new couches.

Is Al talking about a real cat or something else?

It's an instinctual reaction much like dogs turning around before they lie down. It prepares the place they plan to lie down to be more comfortable.
