I am looking to buy a new mattress for my bed. What would be a reasonable price to pay for an adequate mattress, and where is a good place to look in general.

TIA

There are a few things in life you should NEVER skimp on. A mattress is one of those things.

Spent $1500 on a king-sized pillowtop, never regretted it (except it makes travelling tough because no bed is as comfortable as the one back home).

Don't skimp on toilet paper, either.

On the other hand, the road mattresses don't have bite marks.

actually we spent $800.00 on a queen size pillowtop about 5 years ago but having grown up sleeping on a bed as hard as lumpy as railroad tracks I prefer beds that are really firm to almost hard.

Or a place to hang the paddle on the side.

Actually I have had a Select Comfort for 4 years now.
I doubt I'll ever buy another mattress.
It ended my backache completely.
I do change the air pressure about every two weeks.

Pricey though, I paid $2100 for a King size with seperate controls.
Then found out one of my friends bought the same mattress from their outlet store(some people just dont like them and they have a 90 day trial period) and they only paid $700.

Anyway, after 4 years I can say it was worth every penny.

If you're single and want a good matress but don't want the showroom price...go outlet. You can get a good set for a couple hundred bucks and go to Linen and Things and get all the necessities(Down matress cover), comfortable sheets and covers and all for another hundy and take the money you saved and go to the tittay bar.

You're welcome.

Or just forget about the mattress and stay at the tittay bar longer.

sometimes motel chains sell off their used mattresses for cheap...of course, you have to boil them before use.

just saying.

Yeah, thanks for the info Richie Rich.

Royal, you can find what you're looking for on the side of most Nebraska/Oklahoma highways.

I like my Tempurpedic. Great sleep, would not get the pillow top, the medium grade one is best!
