It would appear that this team will go as far is their outside shooting takes them.

It's like that old NBA Jam game where the guy would say, "He can't even buy a bucket." Come on Sooners, it will get better.

0-V-E-R-A-T-E-D!

This team will not do much the way they have played up to this point of the season. Every team I have watched this year on television from gonzaga, arizona, to even tennessee today would beat this team. Well, Texas is one team that is playing worse basketball. They stink.

interestingly enough, you listed all of the teams that tend to peak early in the season and then fade towards the end. under sampson we aren't very good, then very good, then not very good, then very good, then we get to the tourney and once again aren't very good.

oumartin
12/17/2005, 09:02 PM
yeah, I understand what you are saying and its very true how Teams Sampson coaches peak just early enuff to fade out before a deep run in the tourney.
I would like to see this team put a game together like the team did last year against UCONN. Its like they play blah and then tease you awhile with fantastic ball then just flame out when you think they will make a deep run.

I agree that we haven't played like a top 10 (or even top 20) team so far.

However, I do think this team has some serious potential.

2-13 from 3 in the 1st.

Not gonna cut it against better teams.

Newbomb Turk

Bookout clanks 2 FT's.

Still 36-27 - OU

Newbomb Turk

Book makes 1 of 2 from the line.
Gray rebounds the 2nd shot and is fouled.
Taj makes both FT's

Taj is a man tonight.
He follows Bookout's miss (goaltended shot).

Everett to Gray for a monster dunk.
Taj was fouled before the dunk and it didn't count, but it was cool anyway.

Newbomb Turk
12/17/2005, 09:46 PM
I'm not sure why Goldbold gets so many minutes.
I'd rather see Carter in the game.

we are shooting 14 of 24 (58%) from free throw line.

Does Hollis have ANY eligibility left? Maybe if we got him to shoot our FTs.

how do we look?

OK, but not great - better than the Coppin State game.
Taj and Bookout are very solid.
Everett hasn't scored much in the last few games.
We can't hit from 3 point range - gotta get better.
Need to decide who the point guard is going to be. Didn't see Austin Johnson at all tonight.

12/17/2005, 10:13 PM
Yeah, it seems that every year we have so many new faces. I'm sure by the end of January we'll look alot better. I'd like to see Johnson completely healthy so we can see how he runs the point.

Jury's still out on this club. We're not that good offensively yet.

Let's hope yet.

Tonight we did everything really well other than shoot. We passed the ball well and got some open looks, but we just couldn't knock them down. Most everything on defense looked good other than a few possessions where it looked like we weren't giving 100%. Our perimeter defense has a lot of room to improve as the Alexander kid (who happened to be Taj's ex roommate) knocked down alot of outside shots.

Tonight was Nate Carter's best game as a Sooner and it came at the 4 position. Unfortunately for him he's got Bookout in front of him. It's hard to figure out what his year is going to be like. He has the right body for the 3, but right now he looks like he can contribute for us a little more than Johnnie did last year, which isn't a bad thing.

It was an interesting game with the officials. We had zero fouls through the first 13 minutes of the game, then picked up 13 in the remaining 27 minutes. Everett played almost the entire game. Just my opinion, but I don't see Walker contributing much this year.

I think they were experimenting a bit tonight, as well. I don't see Carter playing the PF much against good teams, UNLESS they have hot guards like 'Nova. Carters gonna play the 2 or 3 most of the seson, but I think Sampson wants to see if Carter can spell some down low.

He's not playing very well right now.
