... is going to be a Sooner. Looks like we have another qb in this recruiting class after all.

A little competishon never hurt anybody.

Rhett will benefit from it. And I'd rather have this dood as a backup than a froshman Sam Bradford.

It looks like he has million dollar physical ability; I hope his attitude is worth more than 10 cents. The last stud buzzard chunker we saw out of California didn't work out so well.

Two things:

1. Since he's finishing JC this December, will he enroll at Norman this January and participate in Spring drills?

2. Is there any information readily available about his JC career stats? Yards, completion percentage, team records, etc. ?

How many years of eligability will he have left?

4 to play 3

i have oft wondered why more QBs don't take the qualified juco route. you prove yourself in one year and its amazing how you can go from zero bcs offers to several.

Great News JR..depth will be nice to have..expecially at QB. Here's a little info I found on this kid on scout.com, some of it has already been mentioned on this thread:

2005 - Golden West:
Could be one of the more highly sought after JC quarterbacks in 2005. Possesses a strong arm, good feet, and excellent height. Was arguably the top quarterback at the 2005 JCFootball.com SoCal Combine: 4.58 forty, 4.3 shuttle, 28.7 vertical, and 21 reps on the bench at 185. Halzle is a graduate of Oaks Christian HS in southern Calif. He hopes to qualify in December and will show up at his college of choice in the spring with four years to play three.
Halzle: "I have the ability to read defenses and I have a strong arm. I can also move the ball on the ground if I have to."

2003 - High School Football:
Had a solid junior season completing 143-253 passes for 2,316 yards and 27 TDs. Earned 1st team All-Area and All-CIF honors for his efforts.

Very True! He seems to have nice bench press for a QB as well, at 315 lbs.

I would think so for a QB...I bet JW benched more than that though.

I don't give a rip what he can bench, as long as he keeps his nose clean, works hard and doesn't quit the team.

Welcome Joey. Another in a long line of strangely named OU QB's starting with an H.

I look forward to another period of spelling and pronunciation error!

I was just thinking that same thing - wonder how BB Sr is going to do? :D

He sounds like a good find, and glad he's going to Norman rather than somewhere else. His own site says he was considering CU, but sounds like he's made up his mind to be a Sooner.

I'm thinking that this kid's attitude will be better than the last California QB that came to Norman, because if he didn't get any D-1 offers out of high school, it probably made him figure out that he was going to have to work hard. And his Rival's quote says he likes to look at film and has learned a lot more about how to read a defense. Sounds a lot like a kid who showed up in Norman in 1999 out of JUCO.

My max bench was 315. That was a while ago. It feels VERY heavy, btw...

I agree with GoOwls on the H name thing.
People need to quit bagging on Tommy G. His leaving wasn't all of his doing. I wish him well at Utah. He's going to need it!
