My dad fell getting out of his camper this weekend at the Lake, and is going to need to have pins put in his wrist. If anyone has had any good (or bad) experiences with any ortho docs in the area, could you give me their names? I don't know anyone to send him to.

And, if you could send a few good thoughts his way, that would be nice, too.

TIA

Heck, find out who did JW's knees. That's the guy you want. Seriously.

Don't know if Carlan did JW's knees, but I think he used to do some work for OU athletics, and I believe he was associated with the US Olympic team one year. The guy is serious good.

I would assume Dr. Schnebel did Jason's knees. Being the team physician and all...

Thanks everyone. I gave him the names--hopefully he'll be able to get in to see one of the good ones fairly quickly (It happened at Lake Fort Gibson, and he just got back to OKC last night).

Schnebel is an Orthopedic Surgeon.

Him and Dr. McGinnes are the team pysician and coordinator of orthopedic coverage, respectively. I can bet that they probably assist each other in doing most major surgery for our big dogs.

Dr. Eichner is the teams internist, fyi.

(I'm a sports medicine junkie :D)

"Schnebel is an Orthopedic Surgeon."

He is the best in town. McGinnis is good too. They did all the work on the players unless a specialist was needed for something.

I broke my femur completely in half when I was 6 years old and the concensus at the time was that I would walk with a slight limp and possibly some discomfort for the rest of my life.

Anyway, I had this astounding orthopedic surgeon in Tulsa named Dr. Battenfield. He did just a FANTASTIC job that I have absolutely no sign that I ever injured my leg. He's probably retired now, but damn that guy was good!

Hah, it's not that great a story. This fat kid and I were balancing on this fence that ran next to a tree. He gets up in the tree but he won't climb high enough for me to get on the tree as well. So, I get ****ed and jump off the fence and then reach up and grab his leg and pull him right out of the tree. Anyway, like I said he was a fat kid and he landed right on my leg.

dr. robert unsell @ OSSO

Unsell was the one that could see him soonest, so Unsell it is. He goes in for surgery at 10:30 tomorrow morning. It is a fairly simple surgery, but I'm worried anyway, cause that's what daughters do.

Thanks for your help everyone. Small-Hammer-Spek or YMSS to you all!

let us know how that turns out!

p.s. dr. unsell is very generous with pain meds, so your dad should be happy.

if he needs a hand therapist after all this, let me know...i went to the best in town.

Just dug this up to give props to everyone again. The surgery went great, he's going to PT in MWC and doing much better overall than I thought he would. Thanks again to everyone for your suggestions!
