I would like to seek the help of the members of this board in gaining recognition for a former Sooner who deserves to be in the College Football Hall of Fame. The Sooner, is Carl McAdams, one of the greatest linebackers to wear the crimson and cream. Here is a list of his accomplishments:
Linebacker/Center - 6'3, 215
Born: April 26, 1944
High School: White Deer, Texas
Years at Oklahoma: 1963-1965
Overall Record at Oklahoma: 17-13-1
Honors at Oklahoma:
All-American - 1965 & 1964
All-Big Eight Conference - 1965 & 1964
Big Eight Defensive Player of the Year - 1965
Gator Bowl MVP - 1964
UPI Big Eight Lineman of the Year - 1964
Pro Draft:
St. Louis Cardinals - 1st round, New York Jets - 3rd
Pro Career:
New York Jets, 1966-69
Super Bowl III Champions, 1968
In addition to the honors listed above, Carl, in going head to head, against College Hall of Famer Tommy Nobis from U of Texas, was twice named as AP National Lineman of the Week for his performances against the Nobis-led Longhorns in 1964 and 1965, both Sooner losses.
He was also selected to the 25th Anniversary Kodak All American Team in 1985.
Here's how you can help.
1-Copy and paste this on any Sooner message boards that you are a member of. I only post on this board.
2-Send an email to Ken Mossmann requesting that Carl be giving a push for CHOF consideration by the OU Sports information department. His email is
