Please. It was a rope. Just b/c it never got up very high, that shouldn't matter. Berk's HR is a can of corn on most high school fields I played on.

You serious? It too was a rope and landed three rows into the seats 15-20 feet above the field about 20 feet to the right of the 315 sign. If it's not a homer at most parks, it's at least a double that clears the bases. Berk's got a hell of a swing, that's why his ball doesn't tail. He fires rockets all over the outfield.

McGwire hit his about the same distance, but with assistance from Professor Frink.

he doesn't kick the leg like I used to though. added a couple of bloops here and there.

Both teams were playing at the exact same ballpark the exact same night. There is absolutely nothing that you can say that will change that fact.

Bragging about beating this Cardinals team is like ut bragging about beating OU this year.

We couldn't have been more banged up. Also, what was up with all the bad calls in this series. Another one last night on the "phantom" tag of Molina at 2B.

Dude, you sound like Mack. Were the cards going against the wind too? Cards are always a tough team. To win at Busch is even tougher... Kudos to the Astros and Oswalt. I really thought the Cards had the advantage going into the game last night.

Great game IMO ;)

probably better the Cards didn't make it...LaRussa would just go 1-5 in trying to win a World Series anyway.

Funny how people are ridiculing Minute Maid park for one of the very same things they find endearing to Fenway and Yankee Stadium.

Last I checked, both teams get to play in the same park and have the same opportunity to hit 'cheap' home runs. Though Pujols and Berkman's shots certainly weren't cheap.

I don't think it's so much about the Astros beating the Cards as it is the Astros were once 15-30 this year and came back to win the pennant.

eh, people ridiculed Mile High, and the current Rockies stadium for the same reason. You don't hear many things about how the Dodgers used to build the pitchers mound a little higher than everyone else to give their pitchers an advantage in Chavez Ravine back in the day. Anyhow, home team hitters should always have an advantage in their home ballpark, they should better know the nuances.

I must admit, there is a part of me that would love to see the adventures that are Manny Ramirez fielding in say the old Polo Grounds with the way the ball would carom off of that fence, and the angles of some of those fences.

Why do people love those boring cookie cutter ballparks? Different dimensions and different angles all along the outfield walls makes things interesting. When Ruth played at Yankee Stadium, the right field wall was 295 feet away from home plate (and it wasn't 20 feet tall). I've never heard anybody complain about that joke of a ballpark. I guess the cookie cutter fans also hate Fenway and Wrigley?

I guess unique = bad whenever you lose.

A park can be unique, but I honestly hate basically all of them these days, they're catering the design to the softball game, and away from the baseball game.

eh, I'm not looking for any sort of boring ballpark, but rather one where the hitters aren't being given a complete advantage by the design and dimensions. Comerica Park was a nice one when they built it...however in the years since they've crept the fences in regularly. That's the problem I have with the new ballparks. The fact that through intent they're being turned into glorified Softball fields.

You never said CURRENT!

If you're a lefty pull hitter, the juice box is not so easy.

Not to mention, the porch in left at the Bronx, is pretty much a joke with the prevailing breeze, as can be the right field wall. I seem to remember Knoblauch (yes, friggin Knoblauch!) hit one out over that wall just by making contact.

I am in no way saying that Chicago needs it more than Houston, I just think that the fans of this city (both Cubs and Sox) have waited long enough to win a World Series. **Sox last won in 1917 and the Cubs in 1908** Hell, the Sox threw a Series since they've won one....

That being said, I'm glad that the Cards didn't make the Series for the simple fact that the suicide rate on the northside would have spiked if it were a Red Bird-White Sox series.... ;)

Complete advantage? I guess the Astros have consistently had at least one hitter with 50-55 home runs every year? I guess the Astros should always have the second worst ERA in the league (after Colorado)?

Throw in a challenge and make teams adapt. That's more interesting to me than making every team play in the same cookie cutter ballpark.
