Not at all. There are a bunch of kids that I am really excited about. For example:

Cory Brandon <-- huge O line pick up
James Henry <-- underrated but physically impressive
Jonathan Nelson <-- Great size speed and from what ive read, attitude

and most of all........................

Adron Tennell <-- 6'5" reciver that runs a 4.43. Need i say more :D

Think you missed our discussion on the other forum about recruiting practices. Let's just say size, speed, and potential isnt always what it's cracked up to be.

Lets just say a lot of Sooner fans are yearning for football players, instead of the highly heralded 5 star blue chippers. Dont get me wrong, ALOT of 5 star dudes are indeed football players. Some are given a high rank based soley on potential though, and you end up taking a chance on someone just because he is a 6'5 receiver that runs a 4.3 forty. (not dissing your boy, I have no idea who he is.. and he might be awesome as hell)

Hope you get the idea im trying to convey. I think everyone kinda got too caught up with the recruiting hype.... I do it too with Bama.

Well I'd hardly call my personal opinion to be the 'yearnings of a lot of Sooner fans'.

most important thing about the 2006 class will be the retention of the 2005 class.

What happened to Marcus Johnson? Also, the recruitment of AD is directly responsible for 2 of those guys leaving. I think that class will look at least a little better next year.

Oh and Scott D, you couldn't have put it better.

I think the better question would be...

If there were 3 or 4 five star players would this thread have even been started ?

Scott D

being named a 5 star player by a 'recruiting guru/site' is vastly overrated.

It depends on the player. I bet if you looked at a list of 5 stars from like 2001 you wouldn't know who half the players are.

when it comes to recruiting, the ones who actually compete at a level of their rating are the exception, not the rule.

The Horns are trying to weasel in for James Henry according to Ketch (like Roy Miller last year). FYI. He is coming to Austin (for the 2nd time) after his official visit to Norman coming up.

Just for you. Oh, and golly, please don't turn my spek points red. That would shatter me.
I just read that he likes to go with his family to watch Texas play but is solid to OU. Roy Miller was never solid, you know as good as I do nothing is for sure with these kids.

Roy was a solid commitement. I posted something off rivals a while back where he was saying over and over again how much he loved OU and how he wasn't even looking anywhere else. I agree that nothing is for sure with these kids though.

I knew he was never Solid on OU. I work with three of the Killeen Refs (non of them UT fans) and they told me right of the bat the kids family was putting major pressure on him to go to Texas.

I guess I was thinking more of the linemen than the skill positions. Didn't see much there really.

I think we've only got the one verbal right now on the OL (Brandon), however I'd say there are at least a good 7-8 targets out there.

We need some big ol boys on OL. FAST.

Maybe a recruiting trip to Samoa and other Pacific isles would be a good idea?

Scott D
10/18/2005, 04:49 PM
I'd only look at Hawaii and Samoa for defensive tackles....if they get converted to OL after arrival that's a different story.

I'm already in part looking toward 2007, and my pressing question there is whether or not this staff will do the right thing in terms of looking for the right mindset type of quarterback.

This OL is leaving Hawaii (http://rivals100.rivals.com/viewprospect.asp?pr_key=41130&Sport=1)

And has OU listed as his favorite

Scott D

yeah but the Mahelona escapade is the reason he's got Tennessee up there...Mililani is a pretty decent team year in and year out.
