by legging out you mean it was a one hopper over the fence for a ground rule double and you pulled such muscle by show boating and sliding into second. ;)

LOL.....wasn't quite that bad, but yea, I turned the "jets" on for like, one second, and that was one second too long. The bad thing? I did it in the 1st or 2nd inning. Had to play the rest of the game like that.

but you play catcher! you don't have to move.
I know your pain. I played softball a couple years back after a 5 year layoff and I though stretching was for wussies... It took me half the season to get where I could walk normal again.

Yea, I've got a bad habit of not stretching b/c I think I'm still 18.

And, I played Leftcenter tonight, or rover, whatever. I did alot more running than I had hoped to do.

Stanley, I played softball for about 15 years. I knew it was time to stop when it took 3 days for the swelling to down in my knees. I pitched so all that knee bending got me.

Any ducks on the pond on the two bagger?...and did you score that inning? Makes all the difference in the world if it was worth it or not...;)

Hey, I was 35 goin' on 22 when I stopped.

Why do you build me up (build me up) Buttercup, baby
Just to let me down (let me down)and mess me around
And then worst of all (worst of all) you never call, baby
When you say you will (say you will) but I love you still
I need you (I need you) more than anyone, darlin'
You know that I have from the start
So build me up (build me up) Buttercup, don't break my heart

I quit playing softball when I turned 40. No matter how many times I told myself "you're not sliding or diving after a ball this year" it just came natural. Waking up stuck to the sheets (in the bad way), and having to get in the shower to remove your pants that are stuck to your leg about 40 times was enough. Pulled hammies suck squid too. In my last year of playing I got talked into playing co-ed. First game I hit a line shot at the shortstop (a chick) which hit her dead between the tittays. She dropped like she'd been shot. Eyes rolled back in her head, etc. We ended up carrying her off the field. I quit playing co-ed.

On a sidenote, when I was about 30, I hit 56 dingers in a season. Our season was 40 games. I went 4-4 with 4 homers in 2 different games. Homey could pound that softball.

you kept softball stats? ;)

the leg strawberry is indeed a crappy injury. once the skin opens, the leg glaze appears. It's like fly paper, everything sticks, bugs, grass, dirt.

up here in Tittay, most of the tournaments don't allow homers. in fact, if you hit one by accident, you are out everytime you come up again for the rest of the game. It's genius too  , instead of guys trying to hit homeruns and popping out, they hit peerods right back at the pitcher instead so they don't accidentally go deep.

Stanley1
7/13/2005, 01:36 PM
Yeah, I dove for one last week. Still have a nice little strawberry from that one. And you are right Dean, it doesn't matter what you "want" to do, instincts take over and you find yourself diving/sliding all over the place.
