OK...I will ask again. What is a common recipe for this stuff you call No Bean Chili?

Is it just spicy spaghetti sauce or what?

Anybody North of OKC doesn't know anything about chili.

Chili:

Meat (lots of it)
Peppers (hot, and lots of them)
Tomatoes (fresh, lots of them)
Chili Powder (lots of it)
Sweet Peppers (bell, red, yellow, etc.)
Salt
Pepper
Garlic (some do, some don't)
Any secret ingredient you want - this might include a dash of black gunpowder, or a shot of sugar, or a beer, or an ounce or two of tequila, or a dash of Sudden Death sauce, or some diced squash/eggplant/brocolli (yes it sounds gross, but it's really quite good), or whatever your little heart desires - WITH THE OBVIOUS EXCEPTION OF FREAKING LEGUMES!!!

Read my lips (and anybody elses who knows anything about chili) there are NOT BEANS IN CHILI. Period. End of discussion.

If you want to talk about bean recipes we can do that; I love navy beans and hamhocks, pintos, 3-bean casserole, refried frijoles, etc., but beans have no place in chili.

That is all.

Both have their place. If you're eating it out of a bowl, beans. If you're eating it on a hot dog, no beans.

Dad gum Okies...you corrupted my taste buds!!! While I didn't have the pleasure of eating real chili (straight or gay) during the past 6 years I lived in Oklahoma City, I did have the pleasure of discovering the joy of peppers and fresh salsas. Think I can find any of that in Northern California???

Heck no!!! God, what was I thinking when I decided to move back home??? Westerners put celery instead of peppers in their salsa, and eat queso out of a jar!!!

My taste buds really miss Oklahoma!!!

Both types can be good; I haven't done enough fiddling to come up with my own ultimate recipe. But I know what Brak would say.

Here's a lovely song about my favorite food
Lima, lento, soy, and pinto
Navy, northern, and garbanzo
Kidneys and frijoles negros
I love beans
I love beans
Woo woo woo!
I love beans
How 'bout you?
High in fiber
Low in fat
Hey, I betcha didn't know that
When I eat beans
I sit in my own little cloud
Nobody comes to visit me
In my little cloud
I don't know why
Maybe 'cause I'm cuttin' muffins
Because...
I love beans!
Hey hey hey!
I love beans everyday!
Beans are an excellent source of protein
I love beans!
Diggydoo!

Gay Chili (w/beans) vs. Straight Chili (no beans)Considering the natural effects of Beans on the human sphinkter, I would have to say that Gay chilli would be beanless.

Just a thought! :D

Eat beans and rice together for the fart value. Eat chilie w/out beans for the taste.

I was inspired by this thread to make some deer chili this morning.

I'll enjoy it with a Turbo Dog while listening to the game on the internet this afternoon.

Oh, and it has beens in it. Not just any beans, but chili beans! So there. If your chili contains chili beans, then it aint gay. :p

Of course, if that is the case, my mom should be long gone. It's sad to see that people down there don't realize that improvements can be made, and ought to be made. Only time chili shouldn't have beans is when it is on top of a hot dog.

Beans, beans, the musical fruit
The more you eat
The more you toot
The more you toot
The better you feel
So eat some beans at every meal

Beans, beans, they're good for your heart
The more you eat
The more you fart
The more you fart
The better you feel
So eat some beans at every meal

Texas chili is pretty good, but it just isn't chili without beans.

The real scoop on beans in chili, as I understand it, is that they were outlawed in chili cookoffs because the cooks could use "identifying beans" like black beans, or big beans or something, to let the judges know whose chili was whose. I've been to several cookoffs and most offer beans on-the-side.

I have to say that Northerners make the best chili. Texans and Okies even make better chili when they go skiing or hunting in the north. Until I moved to OK and TX, I didn't know there was such a food as "chili without beans".

I suppose next we'll hear about the virtues of counting both sides of the deer rack vs. the proper way of counting one side. Jheez.

No, as I said before, chili without beans is called "meat sauce". Nothing more.

It is imperative for chili, that is to be eaten alone, to have beans.
