The character "Ron Burgundy" is funny. Hence, the DVD extra scenes (especially the video for Afternoon Delight) were far funnier than the actual movie (see the extra with Jack Black as the biker). However, the movie was horrendous to watch. This comes from a huge fan of Will "Hank the Tank" Ferrell. In summary, watch the DVD extras and skip the actual movie.

problem is, i was so intensely bored throughout the movie that i'll probably never give it a second chance........

Each has sucked monkey balls. The last one? Where he's a soccer coach and Robert Duvall is playing his Great Santini role again? I'd rather have my wisdom teeth removed, all 4 at once, than watch it again.

This is a good example of a movie improving with repeat viewings.
Roadhouse with Patrick Swayze is one of the worst - unless it was intended to be a comedy in which case it was great.

very good point indeed. Farrell made the mistake of doing too many films in a short period of time.
also, Hartman didn't have much success himself in big movies.

Not really, in my opinion both of them are more suited to being part of an ensemble cast, and not carry the film. Hartman's strength was that he could be the funny guy, or he could be the 'straight man'. Ferrell only seems to have the one gear of being the goofy big guy.
I'd put that Arnold christmas movie on the same par as Anchorman.
Ferrell's best film job was as the Ranger in Jay & Silent Bob.

I watched Anchorman on a little DVD screen I set up over the speedometer while driving to Arizona last summer. Why? Because my 13 year old kid recommended it. While I did chuckle a couple times at the more obviously retarded points, overall, the night time scenery in the middle of New Mexico was more entertaining. I watched the entire thing and didn't even realize that the chick was Kelly Bundy.
Will Ferrell's high point was as a Spartan cheerleader. Before/since he hasn't touched it. Kelly Bundy's high point was being Kelly Bundy.
