Stilwell strawberries getting ready to come off. In Germany they go ape**** over the asparagus harvest, especially the white ones.

They also go ape**** over Hasselhoff and pooping on each other in pron films, add this to the list of why Germans are the weirdest people on the entire planet.

But leeks aren't German. They're Welsh. So much so that the people of Wales consider leeks their national vegetable. Here's a photo of the Prince of Wales receiving his ceremonial leek from a member of the Welsh Guards on St David's Day. As you may know, the Welsh Guards are a a guards regiment which is part of the Queens Household Division. They even have embroidered leeks on their caps and lapels.

They did had some bizarre categories of videos in the local pron shops I visited.

Leeks are highly underrated. I have yet to use them in a recipe that wasn't great.

Takes a while to wash the sand out of them, though.

Here is a bad leek...I can't tell if it was a water pipe leek or somebody...well...sprang their own leek in this one...

yup, I was there during the harvest of white asparagus one year.....they go nuts. we made reservations to eat in this little farming community out in the middle of nowhere. you must have reservations, then they pick however much is needed for the day and cooked immediately....only served during lunch time. (they INSIST on freshness)

It was good, but I'd never had it before, and haven't since.

Just one more reason to denigrate the Welsh.

And it was damn tasty. A bit runny though - maybe less liquid next time or more leeks and potatoes.
