Yeah, we were 3 games out of our division at the end of last year. Something tells me if we got to play the Royals, Tigers and Indians a whole bunch, we'd have won your division by 15 games ;)

Scott D

I doubt it....KC was good at the beginning of the year, and toward the end of the year both the Tigers and Indians were playing as well as anyone in the league.

At least you don't play alot of road games in the dreary WalMart like settings of Tampa Bay's and Toronto's indoor POS. Go Sawx!

Yeah, we get to go to the likes of L.A. and Oakland and get shot at....I would take the safety of wal-mart field over playing in Oakland anyday. :texan:

If the Astros played the Reds all 162 games this season and Roy Oswalt was starting, they would win all of them. Oswalt owns the Reds (13-0 lifetime) and so far this year, the Astros have owned the Reds (4-0).

I didn't want to start a thread about it, but I'll post it here. A-Fraud had a monster night against the Angels, hitting three homers and driving in 10 runs. If he can do that all season against the Rangers' AL West rivals, he may not be such a bad fellow, after all. ;)

i've noticed that the rangers are hitting about >256. this time last year
it was more like .310. this won't cut it, even if they are leading the league in homers.

in a recent game, they had 4 bases empty shots & lost the game.

last night on the Sunday Night Sports thing they had two radio guys on, and they were ripping Tram for not taking a chance and bringing Urbina in to close games since Percival is struggling in that role so far this year... I'm saying bench Percival for now to see how Urbina does.....I know Ozzie has specifically NOT gone to Takatsu, and used either Marte or Hermanson at times.

I don't see that Percival has done anything worth getting benched over. Especially in favor of Urbina. It's barely May. Heck, it was after the middle of April before he even got his first save opportunity.

benching is probably a bad way to put it....Tram should just go to Urbina in the 9th occasionally instead of Perci....technically he could be using Farnsworth as the setup guy, since he can find the strike zone a lot easier than German.

Paperclip
5/3/2005, 10:45 AM
I wasn't sure how Urbina would be this season after that ordeal with his mom. He looked pretty good last night pitching the 8th and the 9th. I really think they brought Percival in to close games and he'll get every chance to do that.

Scott D
5/3/2005, 03:24 PM
well unless he hits a hot run (which I expect he'll do by late may-mid june) it wouldn't hurt to use them both as closers..and neither as the closer on back to back nights.

Paperclip
5/3/2005, 03:29 PM
Yeah, like we need a closer on consecutive nights.

Scott D
5/3/2005, 03:37 PM
you might hit another 5 game hot streak :P

besides...it's kosher now to bring in the closer in the 9th even if you are losing 10-2.

Hoffman's a hall-of-famer. Hermanson is not. There's a big difference.

Besides, I don't blame Hoffman for the loss, I blame Linebrink, who couldn't hold a 5-3 lead in the eighth.

I can handle the sweep, but seeing the '84 box score made my stomach turn.

We're playing really poorly right now, and Detroit jumped all over every one of our mistakes. That's a sign of a very opportunistic team, which is exactly what Detroit is right now.

If they stay the course, they'll be fighting for that AL Central title in a year or two. You're definitely building something good up there.
