So my son, an E-3, was chatting with his Lt. Col the other day. He's been his gopher lately while he's AFI. He's been invited by him off base to play at one of the nice casino courses this saturday. This is the first time they've played though the Col knows my son is a golfer.

The Col told him he shoots in the 90s. If my son doesn't shoot in the 70s, he's broken his hand. So does he just go out and shoot lights out and act humble? That's what I'm thinking. I'm sure the Col would appreciate seeing a good golfer.

My son has played tournament golf since 8th grade so I'm not worried about etiquette or behavior or anything like that. And he knows not to give anyone swing advice, etc.

I loved my time as an E-3 hanging out with O-5's and going golfing with them.

I really enjoyed the time I spent chatting up Col's. as a LCpl. good times.

Hell the best time I ever had was when a bunch of us PFC's went on a road trip with some the the Generals

LOL! Skeptical? Jealous? What does it matter to me if you think I'm full of **** just because you never got the same opportunity.

probably because their is a policy in the military that covers this sort of behavior called fraternization.

It is strictly enforced.

which is why you set off my BS meter. According to you a month a go your son completed the AF boot cam and was going to be an ATC. I guess now he's skipped his MOS school to play golf with Lt. Col's my BS meter not only went off it stopped and started laughing.

when i was an E-6, our commanding general came to fort hood for a visit....the battalion XO invited him to play golf...and invited a WO and myself...sort of as representatives of the office...there was no "chit chat" though...it was about as stiff a round of golf as you can imagine

"daily or weekly activities could result at a minimum in the perception of an unprofessional relationship"

you can quote AFI 36-290 all day, when it comes down to it, perception is the biggest issue. Any officer, especially an O-5, will avoid the possibility of perception of an unprofessional relationship. especially the commander types which is the O-5 that most E-3s will have contact with.

Fact I have been out drinking with a 2 star admiral, 2 0-6s, several 0-5s and a plethora of 0-4 and belows as an E-4, E-5 and E-6 because they dont give 2 ****s about fraternizing in the navy sub community. We had guys that lived with officers, I have 4 close friends i met in the navy that are officers that I routinely go out with. In fact our Dept Heads and Division Officers were encouraged to take enlisted guys out as a reward. On the surface side of the Navy this is a big no no but is accepted on the sub side. I know several Air Force people that say its even more relaxed in certain Air Force circles.

I have never met a marine that would say that this is acceptable, but thats the difference between the 2. The Army and the Marines are put in very intense situations were peoples lives depend on the chain of command structure whereas the Air Force and the Navy has a couple guys push some buttons or fly some planes while everyone else plays cards or whatever.

If you would like me to elaborate and can maintain a civil discourse, send me a PM.

while true, the problem arises when not every single person on the golf course or every co-worker of your son understands the situation. There isn't a perception between the E and the O, but unfortunetly they aren't the only parties involved.

It actually says that a "While an occasional round of golf...between a supervisor and a subordinate could remain professional..."

It never says that is "ok"

Also....

From right before where you c&p...

It is often the frequency of these activities or the absence of any official purpose or organizational benefit which causes them to become, or to be perceived to be, unprofessional.

Fast food chain KFC has come in for criticism from customers who say its Mini Fillet advert is misleading.

Five consumers complained to the Advertising Standards Agency (ASA) that the chicken burger used in the TV commercial was larger than in real life.

The company claims the Mini Fillet used was within the "standard range of dimensions", and that its name clearly indicates its size.

It also suggested that the woman filmed eating the sandwich may have had small hands, making the product appear slightly larger than it was.

Nevertheless, the ASA upheld the complaints against KFC and has pulled the ads.

"Even though the product was called a mini chicken fillet burger, we do not think this was sufficient to alert consumers to the fact the product was smaller than appeared in the advertisement," the ASA said.

The controversial ad shows a group of people eating KFC's Mini Fillets at a railway station.

So I'm on the first tee with him, I give him the driver. And he hauls off and whacks one. Big hitter the Pope... long. Into a 10,000 foot crevace right at the base of this glacier. And his Holiness says, "In nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritus Sancti. Amen." So we finish eighteen and he's gonna stiff me. So I say, "Hey John John, hey! How about a little something, you know, for the effort, you know?" And he says, "Oh, there won't be any money, but when you die, on your death bed, you will receive total consciousness."

Shoulda known better

I'm never gonna dance again
guilty feet have got no rhythm
though it's easy to pretend
I know you're not a fool

Should've known better than to cheat a friend
and waste the chance that I've been given
so I'm never gonna dance again
the way I danced with you

Should've known better
Than to fall in love with you
Now love is just a faded memory
Should've known better
Now I'm a prisoner to this pain
And my heart still aches for you
