I've become kind of partial to Corona myself. If I have to drink a 'Canadian' beer, I drink Budweiser or Alexander Keith's India Pale Ale.

(Understand though, that Budweiser is brewed up here by Labatts, and is a whole different beer than what is brewed and sold down there).

1. The best ever was a pint of "best bitter" at the Man in the Moon pub in London's West End, 1985. I didn't even notice the brewer. The greatness might be due to the location, the circumstances, or even nostalgia.
2. I had some Boulevard Pale Ale when I was in OKC in September, it was awesome. I'd request it for my last meal if I were to be shot at dawn. I wish I could buy some here.
3. I drank 4 Turbo Dogs this evening and have no complaints at all. :D
4. The worst beer I ever had was GREAT!!!

One of the benefits of living in Oklahoma and frequently drinking in small towns or dive bars is that you learn to develop a wide base of "favorites" so that no matter how pitiful the selection, they'll always have something you love...:D

I don't drink a lot of import/liquor store beer because I don't like to spend the extra money. I don't buy convenience/grocery store versions of liquor store beers, again, because they cost too much, plus you don't get the extra kick over regular beers.

Therefore, I drink almost all domestics from the big brewers. Coors is my favorite. I typically drink Light, because who needs the calories? Most of my friends aren't big Coors guys, and since I'm not a big Bud guy, we usually end up drinking mostly Miller Lite as a compromise.

When I feel like springing for liquor store beers, there are several that I like. As far as domestice, I like Shiner Bock, Rolling Rock, and Stroh's. Imports that I like are Foster's, Red Stripe, Sapporo, and Guiness.

Anything by the Anchor brewery.

Sunshine Wheat is New Belgium's best beer in my opinion.

I like hops, though. My favorite style are the pale ales or the American Strong Ales and the 4 bucks a pint type stuff that is upwards of 7 or 8% ABV that you get on tap or in the specialty beer section at Central Market or Whole foods. You know, the sippin beers that are best just above room temperature and it can take you the entire second half to drink the whole thing.

Setting the record straight...
Yuengling is made in Pottsville, PA, a CENTRAL Pennsyslvania town. You can buy it about anywhere but it is not native to Pittsburgh. It is the oldest, continuously running brewery in USA.
....I'm just sayin'

oh, and the best brand beer is Sapporo...best name is still Blatz.

I don't think anybody said Yuengling was from the Steel City.. I said it rocks, and Instigator agreed and said he enjoyed it everytime he visited Pittsburgh.. Unfortunately, they don't serve it draft everywhere, but it sure is abundant in this part of the world.. Although I've never had a problem finding the stuff in DC. Outside of that, I've never seen it.

I'm just sayin'.. ;

Yuengling sucks, in my opinion. My soon to be former bro-
in-law is from Penn and loves the stuff but it was nasty
to my highly refined pilsiner drinking buds.

Best beer ever to touch my lips was some Spaten
Oktoberfest on tap at Ursula's Bavarian Inn back
when it was open in Tulsa, about 9% too!

Yuengling is just another ordinary American beer like Bud, Miller, etc....NTTAWWT :D
After work yesterday, I had 2 (Imperial) pints of Fuller's London Pride, drawn by hand pump. Delicious. If in New Orleans, take the ferry to Algiers Point, turn right, walk 1 block, and visit the Crown & Anchor. It's small but friendly and sells good beer (opens at 4 pm) . No, I don't own it, but I wish I did.

The first place you see off the ferry is the Dry Dock Cafe, that's probaby the one at the "fork" that you went to. It's a nice little neighborhood spot. But the C & A is a block farther upriver (to the right) in a little white building on the left. It's very small, but the inside is definitely "English Pub" - dark wood beams with little pitchers hanging from them, bench along the wall, etc. It's kind of cramped and not very fancy, but it's unique for the area and you wouldn't have forgotten if you were there. Guess you'll have to come back again to be sure! Let me know and I'll buy one for you and your dad. :D

Algiers Point, right there within about a square mile of the ferry, is kind of funky, sort a much more residential French Quarter. Lots of restored house there, and the property is not cheap. I wish i lived there, but I live in another part of Algiers, which is pretty big and basically everything on the west bank that's in Orleans Parish. My neighborhood is "ordinary" suburbia, built in the 1960s. Not that I'm complaining... :)

disclaimer - I really don't know that much about the real estate values in the Point. You could probably find a fairly cheap fixer-upper on some streets. But don't rely on me if you plan to move down here. :D
