View Full Version : What to do with my Orange Bowl patch?

bri
1/10/2005, 02:41 PM
Okay, here's the situation...My parents went away on a week's vacation...

Alright, seriously, here's the thing. I bought one of those sweet new J-Dub road jerseys with the stitched-on letters and numbers and actual uniform cut from eBay right before the Orange Bowl, with the intent of sewing my OB patch on it after the game. Well, there's no need to remind anyone of what happened in the game, but now I don't know what to do with said jersey and patch.

My first inclination is to toss the patch in the garbage and just wear the jersey to remind me (and those around me) of the good times. You know, all those games Jason won as a starter that got us to the position we were in last week. But on the other hand, I think it'd be a cool little "f*ck you" to the rest of the sports-watching world to go ahead and put the patch on the jersey and wear it with defiant pride. After all, there's about 115 teams out there that weren't even in the position to get their asses kicked by USC. (Including two undefeated teams. :D)

So, as usual, I bring the matter to you, my innerweb friends and confidants. What should I do, patch or no patch?

Thanks in advance.

I say sport it. I still plan on preserving my ticket stub, program and game coin, regardless of the outcome. You can always use the comeback I've used this last week "Hey, When's the last time your team got their *** kicked in the MNC game?"

BigRedJed
1/10/2005, 02:45 PM
Sorry, but I for one have buhleted all '05 OB memories from my brain. I don't need any reminders. The flipping the bird to everyone else is good in theory, bad in practice. I have nothing but positive thoughs for JW, so I'd be proud to own and display the jersey. The patch, not so much.

thank you so much for bringing up such a painful subject. While you're at it, why don't you give me a nice paper cut and pour lemon juice on it?

I vote for hell yes for the same reason I played Boomer EVEN louder at the end of the game.

I've been at OU (and in the Pride) for two years. I've been at all three losing games during those two seasons--Big XII, Sugar Bowl, and Orange Bowl. They sucked. But how many other schools went to two national championships in a row? If you don't sew on the patch it'll be like the tools who say "We won!" proudly like they were on the field but say "They lost" when our team has a bad game. I say we lost, and rightfully so because even though we are a great team, on that particular day we played like crap and deserved to have our butts whooped.
Sewing the patch on the jersey of our single-Heisman-trophy-winning quarterback and wearing it proudly means you're not one of those lethargic piece of crap "fans" who only supports a winning sooner football team.

Who knows? Not until after I get my nameplate and get ready to take it to the sewing emporium for sewing...
Is that where Pink, Mitch, and Wooderson met up with Dawson, Pickford, and Slater?

bri

Yes, yes it is.

Aren't you running late for your Late-Afternoon Nap? You don't want it running into your Early-Evening Nap, 'cause that'll just screw everything up.

since you voted "hell yes" this poll really has no value, does it? other than mindless competition and mild entertainment value, of course. like pretty much everything else on this message board....

Why do people post in polls, but not in the SO. Very strange. Strange indeed.

Well, you never know. Unlike some other people on this board, I am open to debate and new ideas. If "Hell no" was winning, like, 55-19, then I'd get rid of that dang patch faster than you could say 'WHY DID HE BRING THAT UP?!?'. :D

Never, apparently.

Which is good for me, 'cause I got to vote again and tie it back up.

Not that it's mattered for a year now...
