Yeah, I saw that one but they don't have the 700 meg version that I use to make DVDs. I found a torrent that is the version I want, but nobody is seeding and I don't know how to get them to.

I hope I don't have to resort to using IRC.

Did you try Torrentspy (http://www.torrentspy.com)? I just saw at least 1 700 meg version on there.

Doesn't work.

Ok. How do we play these?

There's any number of different kinds of files available (mpegs, dvd isos, avis, palm pilot programs, whatever really). Most of the tv shows can be played in windows media player. Easily burned to a dvd to play in your dvd player (if you find the right software).

You'll need the bit torrent software to download the actual files, though. Search google and you'll find it easily enough.

Ok dude, you aren't understanding. You download the .torrent file then you double click on it and it launches your bittorrent client, which gets information from the .torrent file and then downloads the file.

I suggest using Azureus (http://azureus.sourceforge.net/) for your bittorrent client.

Two different opinions:

Reviewer: ifonly Feb 1, 2005

Firstly i'd like to say the whole idea and concept of eXeem is great and the guys have sure done a good job. This program DOES NOT contain spyware, it does however contain 1 468x60 web banner located in the bottom right.. just like the ones you see on websites, I don't see what all the fuss is about. You can download full albums, movies etc with ease.

The program works well, the "most recent" files added is a great section to look for great downloads with great download speeds. This is the future of bit-torrent file sharing to the max, i'd strongly suggest you download eXeem, even though it's not a final release. It is way better than kazaa for instance theres no spyware, you can download full albums and theres no rubbish (min file limit is 1mb therefore no pictures or useless files).

A DUH!!!!! Ad ware is spyware...No thanks man..Doesn't matter how good the produce is..If it has spyware or adware it's not worth it..Even if it's free..
If it has Adware then your email address and what you do on the computer is given to every Tom, Dick and Harry out there willing to pay for it..Sorry man, I'll stick with Bit Torrent..I may have to make a small dontion, but at least I know it's FREE of any apy or ad ware

Norm I've got several recent Lost episodes on my pc at the house. They're recorded in mpeg format and are sufficient for DVD's.

I don't think I've deleted any of them in a while and could check and see if I have any episodes you might need.

I should also have quite 24 episodes as well.

Norm In Norman

The thing about the ones I download is they are widescreen with dolby digital sound. The 700 meg ones are in a resolution somewhere between DVD and HD quality. Are you recording from an HD source or standard TV? If so, I'll take you up on the offer, although a 10 gig file might take a while to transfer ;).

I'm recording from standard DishNetwork . . . I'll double check the actual resolution, etc. and get back with you.

Norm In Norman
3/1/2005, 02:37 PM
Standard dish network won't give you as good of a resolution as the ones mentioned above. You should try downloading one some time. I've made some DVDs that look damn good, especially on an HD television.

Sooner_Bob
3/1/2005, 05:22 PM
Yeah, I'll bet HD Dish vs. Digital Dish is no contest.

I've downloaded some HD copies of 24 in Divx format and they looked very crisp on my PC. I never took the time convert them to MPEG format for a DVD.

Is that what you do? Or are they available for download as MPEGs?

The MPG files I'm able to record are at

Video: 352 X 240, NTSC, 8 MB/second.
Audio: 48 KHz, 16-bit, stereo.

http://www.soonerfans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=23141&highlight=xvid

I was going to burn them all to DVD, but since I got my XBox working so I can play them off the network, I don't really need to burn them to DVD. Straight mpeg2 would be closer to 2 gigs to download and the quality isn't quite as good. Converting these to mpeg2 and burning them to DVD gives you AWESOME picture and sound though - better than recording it yourself. If you are a glutton for punishment, you should try the instructions in that other thread some time.

SoonerObsession

It's basicly a cool way of file sharing. Let's say person A has a file they are willing to share. Person B comes along and downloads the file from Person A. As person B is downloading it, person C comes along and wants it also. They download fragments of the file from B and A. Persons B and C can share with others fragments of the file as they are downloading it themselves. It's better than most file sharing programs because you don't have to depend on one uploader at a time. This is how I understand it anyway.

Download your movie how ever you do it. Use Winrar if the file needs to be extracted. Now you have your movie, an .MPG, .AVI, or a .bin-.cue file.

If you have an avi or an mpg download VSO DivxToDvd.(its Free)
If you have a .bin and .cue file then you have to download VCDgear too. These programs can be found on download.com or a simple search on a search engine(altavista worked perfectly for me).

If your file is a bin/cue use VCDgear to convert it to an mpg file then you are ready to use vso divxtodvd.
Open the program for source, select the movie. Then the problem I had for the longest time, I left the Aspect and Standard on Automatic. Change Standard to Force NTSC 29.97 FPS and the Aspect is up to you 16:9 is Wide screen and 4:3 is full screen. MAKE SURE YOU CHANGE THESE THOUGH OR IT WONT WORK. Once thats set press convert and wait until its done. When done the program has created a VIDEO_TS file for your movie and has converted it to 2 .BUP, 2 .IFO, and 1-10 .VOB files. These files are whats read by the dvd player.

Now you just need to burn the files. A DVD-R or DVD+R, depends on what your dvd player reads. Also you need the burning software. Nero is what I use and it's really simple. Nero usually puts the files in order for you in which they need to be put but just incase you arent using nero this is the order.
VIDEO_TS.BUP
VIDEO_TS.IFO
VTS_01_0.BUP
VTS_01_0.IFO
VTS_01_1.VOB
VTS_01_2.VOB and so on until you have all the VOB on. and thats it. Hopefully this was simple enough for you guys to understand and saves you the time and effort of trying 50 different programs.

uTorrent is a pretty good bit torrent client. What I like about it is, it let's you make up an IP address that's reported to the tracker, and it doesn't use very much of your CPU and memory.

I haven't been able to get on tvtorrents in at least a week. Is it down for good? I really liked it's organization, although I think I find better torrents on demonoid sometimes.

uTorrent (http://www.utorrent.com/) is the very best program out there for downloading torrents right now.

bitcomet, bittorrent, bittyrant, bitlord, bitspirit and a few others i would not use because some of them give you false numbers intentionally to keep you seeding longer and they also tie up your system resources in windows.

I use scrape torrent (http://scrapetorrent.com/) and Demonoid (http://www.demonoid.com/) to search for the torrents I want.

Scrape takes results from up to five different torrent share sites and does not require membership.

Demonoid is a really good one and I prefer to use it because they monitor the shared torrents for quality and frauds but it is by invite only.

No one is allowed to sell memberships but for some green spek I might be persuaded to send an invite your way ;) ... just PM me if you are interested.

I have been using Power ISO to convert the files that need to be converted. It seems to do fairly well but I have had some issues figuring out how to work it properly.

So, are torrents done or what?

I don't think so. I've been using Azerus and torrent-finder.com or a couple of invite services that have television shows from BBC and Canada.

tvtorrents.com is what I used, it's down or gone. Most of the links above are gone too. I found a torrent site, when I downloaded, it was a crappy torrent (with commercials included) that was password-protected by some singles website.

First off, you should all save yourselves the liability and try to watch all your TV shows at http://www.tv-links.co.uk/. It is 100% safe to watch any show streaming over the internet off that site. It is hit or miss sometimes with older links, but really popular shows have plenty of mirrors. I was able to watch all seasons of Lost and all of Heroes first season off of the site with no trouble.

Second, torrents will never be dead. As the **AA groups take them out, more pop up. You just have to look a little harder.

Torrentspy is now closed to users in the US.

Demonoid has been closed for a few weeks now. Trying to see if they can move the servers anywhere else.

So I'm curious what everyone else is using.

ThePirateBay is pretty bad. I mean, a lot of those torrents are spam and inaccurate. They don't have a good reporting system.

Mininova and Meganova are just little.

Any others?
