What are some very useful FireFox extensions that ya'll know of? There are just so many, it's hard to see them all.

Auto-Copy is probably one of the best ones I have seen.

There are a few new ones I've gotten:

Bandwidth Tester (duh, it's just built in)
https://addons.update.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?application=firefox&version=1.0%20&os=Windows&category=Miscellaneous&numpg=10&id=178

ForecastFox (puts local weather on the status bar at bottom of browser)
https://addons.update.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?application=firefox&version=1.0%20&os=Windows&category=Miscellaneous&numpg=10&id=398

Colorzilla (lets you see the rgb color of anything inside browser window)
https://addons.update.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?application=firefox&version=1.0%20&os=Windows&category=Miscellaneous&numpg=10&id=271

Nuke anything (selectively remove things from web pages by right clicking)
https://addons.update.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?application=firefox&version=1.0%20&os=Windows&category=Miscellaneous&numpg=10&id=79

Quicknote (use it all the time had it forever, just don't remember it being mentioned)
https://addons.update.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?application=firefox&version=1.0%20&os=Windows&category=Miscellaneous&numpg=10&id=46

The google preview mentioned above can be darn slow at times and I seldom even look at the pictures. I think it uses the same images that icerocket uses.

If I used thunderbird, it would be a no brainer. Are you using that for work email now?

Since I always have firefox open, this way is better for me. I don't want to have to open another piece of software just for RSS feeds since I already have 8 or so programs running at a time anyway.

I wish that I could use Thunderbird for sceduling because I like it for email better than what I'm using.

Now that I've used autocopy for a while, I hate it. I will try to cut-n-paste something to my search window, but there is usually my last search text still in it. I highlight it and hit delete. The ctrl-c and the old search text is pasted. Talk about irritating.

Norm In Norman

Yes, I use it at work and at home. we are supposed to all be on an exchange server here in the near future. I hope I get to keep my Thunderbird. I guess it depends on whether they turn pop/smtp on.

SactoSooner

Firefox and Outlook's webmail do not like each other at all. I have to use IE in order to properly view everything.

ForecastFox is great! I've being using it since day one. I also really like the "copy as plain text" extension, because I copy and paste from web pages into documents all the time. No need to reformat everything this way.

Doing it through options is the only way I've found. There's this one dealing with cookies, but I'm sure you've seen it.

Not sure how well it works.

Eh. I use them both depending on my mood. the bad thing/good thing about nuke it is that it comes back when you refresh.

I like using nuke it to kill menu bars and stuff if I'm gonna print a page that doesn't have a printer friendly version. Saves time over copying and pasting into another program to print from.

If I had to give up one, I'd keep AdBlock, that's for sure.

Here ya go Norm, this might be close to what you're looking for.

http://downloads.mozdev.org/cookietoggle/cookietoggle_0.8.1.xpi

Cookie Toggle is an extension for Mozilla Firefox that creates a toolbar button that allows you to toggle cookie functionality on and off. This extension is ideal for those who wish to surf with cookies off, but want to be able to turn them on easily when visiting certain sites.

Update! 29 December 2004

Cookie Toggle 0.8.1 fixes the size of the large toolbar buttons so that they don't change the size of the toolbar. Small toolbar buttons remain as before.

Features:

* Simple toolbar button which changes to reflect cookie behavior
* Remembers whether cookies are only accepted from originating web sites

Known Issues:

* Changes to cookie settings made through the Options dialog or about:config are not reflected in the button
* Glitches can often be fixed by clicking the button twice or changieng the cookie settings in Options to match the toggle button
* Only tested in Windows Firefox 1.0, but simple enough that it should work in any version greater than 0.9

and could somebody tell a brotha how to print the calendar on the thunderbird extension?

if i open up the calendar, click file-print active calendar, i get a new window that looks like a print preview - except there is no menu and you can't right click to print.

Can you describe what that does in English?

Basically, it lets you re-write the web in your own image. If you don't like the annoying banner ad on ESPN.com that hides some of the page when you first visit it, then you could write a greasemonkey script to get rid of it.

There is a greasemonkey script that puts a little play button beside every link that goes to an mp3 file. You can push the play button and it plays right inside the browser instead of launching an external link.

There is a greasemonkey script that instantly fetches prices from 5 different online bookstores so that you can easily compare prices when you are shopping for books.

Read through this list. If any of these scripts sound like they might be something that you would like, then greasemonkey is for you.

I think StumbleUpon screwed up the updater on Firefox. I never use it, so I tried to remove it, but it's still there and keeps prompting me to update, and now Firefox won't update any of it's extensions. I think I'm just going to export my bookmarks to a file, delete Firefox completely and re-install clean.

Type "about:config" in your url bar and search for "app.version" right click and choose "reset"

That should make the auto updater work again.

At least, that's what did it for me when stumble upon jacked with me.

ok, I'm a big supporter of flash got now. I use it with "Free Download Manager" and it kicks all that can kick ***. Now every time I download a big file I break it into 6 or more parts and I get like 800K download speeds or something crazy like that.

I also like TabX. Eclipse puts an X on every tab and I started getting used to it. If you aren't used to it you don't see the need for it. Now I'm all like "I can close that middle tab with one click instead of 2 and save a lot of mouse movement"
