So this one time I developed a lump right below my armpit. It didn't hurt or anything, but was a little squashy to the touch. Being a guy of around 30, I of course didn't go to the doctor or anything, I just let it sit there. If it doesn't hurt, it's not a problem, right?

About a month later, I'd completely forgotten about this thing ('cause who goes rummaging around in their armpit, am I right?) I noticed some fluid trickling down my side.[

I looked and this lump had some clearish liquid dripping from it.

Anyhow, I did what any guy would do and squeezed it.

I'm telling you, junk shot out about 3 feet. The squashy thing went away, though.

So, this one time I had a pimple in my ear that was so bad I ended up draining from the other side of the ear. Gross, huh?
No, the series of abcesses I had on my front butt were more like carbunkles or massive ingrown hairs, and were caused by a recurring MRSA infection.

The packing was done on a massive abcess I got as a result of an abdominal surgery (umbilical hernia reconstruction). They turned my outie into an innie, but gave me a bad infection in the process. I had to wear a big diaper on my belly for a month while the abcess drained through the open hole, conducted by the guaze strip. Nothing like an open wound for a month.

The MRSA carbuncle things on my front butt were more painful per square inch, though. Firey. And they would rupture and drain fluid all over. It was sweet.

BigRedJed
2/8/2008, 03:58 PM
The best part about the wound care process was when they shoved the guaze into the open hole with a wooden Q-Tip, burying it 2 to 3 inches in my abdominal wall. That was awesome.

Frozen Sooner
2/8/2008, 04:52 PM
OK, Jed, I can top that pain.

When I was about 13, I got testicular torsion. Repeatedly. Apparently, I was born without the little attachy things that keep that from happening. So I had to have surgery to attach the little buggers right so I wouldn't get torsion.

They gave me a bunch of painkillers to take. 'Cause, you know, I just had someone cutting and sewing on the boys. However, my older brother has had his issues with addiction, so I was really worried about addiction. So I refused to take them. Seriously. Not a one.

That sucks. It was probably pretty close to when I was about 6 or 7, jumping on the bed with my cousins despite being told repeatedly by my parents not to.

When I fell off and broke my arm, I was so afraid of getting in trouble for the bed jumping that I didn't tell anyone that my arm hurt. I walked around with a broken arm for several days, until I finally broke down and told my mom what happened. They had to rebreak my arm before they could set it.

Was it like that?

On second thought, no painkiller after surgery on your junk probably wins.

No, it was more like the feeling you get when someone cuts open your man bits, then takes a curved needle and thread then sews your inner man bits to your outer man bits, then sews your outer man bits back together.

That's pretty much what it felt like.

yeah, they have to pull the packing sunday, we'll see if they have to repack. I'll be saving my last vicodin for sunday morning, before I go in and have them do the repack. The pain comes mainly from him hitting the edge of the incision. That's where it hurts like a beast. Although he did have to use less packing today. But still he stick about 6 inches of that 1/4" gauze into me.

I'm still waiting on lab results back though, but i'm on bactrim for right now

The doc was pretty sure that my huge, fluid-filled abcess was also caused by strep, although they had put me on antibiotics before they could culture it, so they couldn't be sure. The boils that were on my front butt that were so painful and that kept bursting and oozing blood and puss all over were definitely MRSA, though.

Hm.

You know, I've kind of lost interest in MMORPGs. As I see it, there's only a few ways to go with them.

Either you wind up with everyone having the same cookie-cutter characters with different skins, or you wind up being completely cut out from huge parts of the game because you don't have uber-l33t gear.

The thing that made MMORPGs fun for me was the interaction with other players. Since I just don't have the desire to log on for three-four hours a night, I end up not being active in a guild-or the guild ends up outleveling me in a hurry and I end up without a group anyhow.

Dunno. Just not something I'm into anymore.

oh, i can understand

i really didn't play much when I was in Korea

but I do like the improvements they've made on the game

Frozen Sooner
2/13/2008, 03:48 PM
Well, here's what I'd do if I were designing an MMORPG:

1. Make it both fun and doable for solo players. CoX did a good job with this, WoW did a terrible job with it.

2. Have a reason to group up. Certain content should solely be for groups. CoX did an awful job of this except for Task Forces, and those were just annoying as all heck. WoW did a great job with this.

3. Find a happy medium between the two.

So here's my solution:

1. Make a bunch of soloable quests with BoP rewards that equal anything that can be grabbed in group quests.

2. The soloable BoPs should be class and focus specific and should complement other class and focus BoPs. Like, say, a priest who gets the staff of beating *** should give all paladins and warriors in his group a bonus to hit and damage. If the Paladin has the hammer of "hey, we really need a true healer along" then the to hit and damage bonus is +10 and the priest gets a bonus to all healing spells.

3. Make group content work in such a manner that it benefits everyone equally. Nothing so frustrating as completing a five-hour dungeon and some a-hole rogue ninjas the Pally BoE drop so he can auction it off.

4. Make group content work in such a way that solo quests must be completed before the group quest. For example, each character starts a chain that ends with the group quest and each character has to retrieve a token that unlocks the group quest-like different parts of a key or whatever.

L33TF0RZ: Can I jion? Level 4 FIRE T4NK!!!!!!!!

Repeat for an hour or so.

Once the group is assembled:

Rock 'Em Sock 'Em: OK, folks, this is a significant time commitment. If you aren't sure you have at least four hours of uninterrupted play time, please just quit now so we can get another to take your place. Repeat: this will take at LEAST four hours and if you quit in the middle, we have to start all over. KK?
WOoolFerin3: Yah. Let's go already!
SexxxxTawrt: kk.
GooBall: Yep
Monkeybrain: WE KNOW
WonderChick: Buff please
Rock 'Em Sock 'Em: Chick, we haven't left yet. We can all get buffs at the door.
WonderChick: BUFF PLEASE

Get to first fight of first mission.

Rock 'Em Sock 'Em: OK, Monkeybrain, if you could drop...oh, ****, what are you doing?
*Monkeybrain throws some weak-*** defender attack in the middle of the group*
Monkeybrain: I can pull this group, watch!

*group wipes*

Regroup

Rock 'Em Sock 'Em: OK, Monkeybrain, please remember your role on this team is to buff us, debuff them, and heal as needed. I know you have some blaster powers, but you're NOT going to need them. Let me draw aggro and let Woolf and Wonderchick fight. OK?
Monkeybrain: Stop telling me how to play!
