Anyhow, the skinny on the singing:

On my birthday, I was persuaded by much alcohol and cleavage to take the stage for karaoke. Apparently people though it would be really funny. Unfortunately for them and previously unbeknownst to me, I have a rather pleasant tenor voice with which I can actually carry a tune.

Anyhow, one thing has led to another, and I'm now getting invites from the local bars to come to their karaoke nights to help out. Free drinks=Mike is there. Last night was the first night I took a bar up on the offer. For one rendition of "Brown Eyed Girl" and one rendition of "Pink Houses" I got four free drinks. Totally worth it.

edit: In no way am I implying that I'm a good singer. I'm good enough that I don't hit flat notes or make people cringe but not so good that it intimidates others from getting up on stage themselves.

so, this semester I have to take a class called "Writing the Novel". Aside from my capstone, it's the last class I actually need for my major. I won't know the details until tomorrow, but I think we have to write a 200 page novel this semester.

Anyway, I've been trying to get a head start with my idea, so I've started writing down ideas and trying to figure out my characters and story arc and stuff...

I'm not particularly interested in writing novels, so it's been tough to think of a story idea that I like enough to spend a semester and a lot of effort on. Well, I finally thought of an idea that I like, and I'm trying to get it all worked out in my head and I think it's possibly (or most definitely) more complicated than I should aim for.

I now have 37 pages of notes and ideas and every time I try to work on it some more, I'm pretty sure my brain explodes.

Billion-dollar Jenks development could lure Drillers from Tulsa

JENKS -- A group of local entrepreneurs has unveiled plans for $1 billion development that could include a new home for the Tulsa Drillers.

The River District would be largest mixed-use development in the state and would include 852,000 square feet of high-end retail shopping as well as restaurants, and a variety of entertainment venues.

The more-than-300 acre site will also include 650 hotel rooms and a small convention facility.

A spokesman for the Drillers said the team has signed a non-binding letter of intent to move into a new stadium planned for the development, which would be just south of the Oklahoma Aquarium.

The facility would include a 7000-seat ballpark, developers say.

Team officials and developers say they will continue discussions about the team's possible more in the coming weeks.

The privately financed project is expected to hit the $1 billion mark in total investment dollars and create more than 4,000 permanent jobs and 7,000 construction jobs over the next five years.

Lawler is just awful. Simply terrible. He hasn't contributed anything worthwhile in at least 20 years; he just bleats out horrible, creaky jokes that would get him booed off the stage at a Catskills nightclub in his insufferable, shrill voice. JBL owns Lawler a million times over. Plus, Lawler ruined a mark-out moment that was 9 months in the making with that stupid "Hey Booker, HEEEEEEE'S BAAAAAAAACK!!" during HHH's entrance. JR had the common sense to keep quiet and just let the people who had shelled out $40 each for this very moment actually enjoy it. But no, not Jerome. God forbid he shut the hell up and let thirty seconds go by without reminding us that he's there.
