Friday Night Calls

"As soon as I take my official visit to USC (12/10) it will help me eliminate some other programs," says Calif LB Rey Maualuga (6-2, 235, 4.5). "I want to go there for a game soon so I can feel their hype and see what the stadium is like. I'm going to try and make it to their game against Notre Dame at the end of the month..."

Eureka (Ca) LB Rey Maualuga (http://scout.scout.com/a.z?s=15&p=8&c=1&nid=1217565) (Scout.com's #5 LB) now says Oregon (http://oregon.scout.com/) leads slightly over USC (http://usc.scout.com/) (12/10 official trip).

"Both Oregon and USC are solid leaders over Nebraska (http://nebraska.scout.com/) and Notre Dame (http://notredame.scout.com/)," says Maualuga, from Eureka. "Oklahoma (http://oklahoma.scout.com/) has dropped out of the running. Things just didn't work out. They just stopped calling and I take it that means they don't want me so…

No great loss, I take it.....?????

The reason they stopped calling is due to the fact he was such a heavy lean to SC. We are on top of Ryan Reynold's list who looks to be a better linebacker than Maualuga. It would kind of be like if a guy lived in Norman and was favoring OU not a lot of teams would waste time on him. Thanks for keeping us up to date, I never thought we had a chance with this guy anyways.

has anyone heard anything new on Reynolds? I think he has a visit to LSU scheduled and on rivals it shows us and florida as his leaders. I thought this guy was almost a lock for OU...am I wrong?

He is a lock for us you think he wants to go to Florida when they don't even have a coach? Florida has lost many recruits the one that hurts them is Derrick Williams.

I never really liked the guy in the first place. I am glad we didn't get him. I saw him announce his school at the Army All American game. His dad was just messing around pulling an Oregon hat out of the box or whatever and Maulaluga took it away really fast looking p*ssed off, then pulled the USC hat out. He isn't a very happy boy. Although his anger problems may take him far in the NFL.

Carroll said the coaching staff has met to discuss the situation and Maualuga has addressed the team. The coach wouldn't elaborate, but referred to the fact that Maualuga's father has health issues.

"This is a young man who's got some very serious stuff he's dealing with right now," Carroll said. "We want to help him."

Looks like Carroll will be a tough disciplinarian
