Instead of starting a new thread for everyone famous that dies how 'bout lumping them into one common thread ?

Next up......

Guy Clark.

I became acquainted with him thru listening to Jerry Jeff Walker in the 70's. He was a known mostly as a songwriter, penning L A Freeway and Desperadoes Waiting For A Train. Also wrote many songs for other artists including Johnny Cash, David Allan Coe, Vince Gill, Ricky Skaggs, Steve Wariner, Hayes Carll, Brad Paisley, John Denver, Alan Jackson, Rodney Crowell, The Highwaymen, and Kenny Chesney. He was a mentor to Steve Earl and Rodney Crowell.

Muhammad Ali. RIP.

I remember being at a high school basketball game. I was only in the 5th grade at the time. My best friend asked me who I thought would win, Clay or Liston. I never heard of either of them. So I took a stab and said, "Ali" It was their first fight. I never forgot who he was or became.

He came to OU in '71 or '72 and spoke in front of Walker Tower. I was right in the front. The back of my head was in the student paper the next morning.

Tho I wasn't a big fan of him personally, I love a lot of bluegrass music.

The Man of Constant Sorrow will be missed.
