Name Your 2016 Preseason Top 5

Greetings! Spring football is over and August will be here before you know it. Here's my list:

1. Clemson
2. OU
3. LSU
4. Bama
5. Ohio State

Hmmm...

1. You just want them to beat Auburn
2. You just want us to beat Ohio State
3. Oh look, an SEC team scheduled a name team that will suck in their opening weekend and then live off that signature win the rest of the season, even with the rest of the non-conference schedule being a cream puff buffet
4. Ditto
5. You're sending mixed signals.

Much kudos and respect to Clemp, and not just because they keep beating us in bowls. They have a good thing going out there that just lacks a national championship.

I think it's time for the SEC to stop getting 7-8 teams in the top 25 and 4-5 teams in the top 10 and 2-3 in the top 5. You're only going to have one playoff spot and that spot is going to your conference champion. Stop pretending that the rest of college football doesn't exist and acknowledge that there's good teams outside your payola everybody's-above-average bullshizzle. Outside of Alabama, the rest of conference is crap. Proof? How many Ole Miss players will be first rounders next Thursday, and how many times did they win the SEC?

Ohio State is like Alabama in the SEC --- it owns its conference in football and the rest of the teams suck while pretending they don't because Ohio State doesn't. Big Ten soooooo awesome, because we won the national championship two years ago and we've been in the playoff both years! No, Ohio State did. Sub in "SEC" for "Big Ten" and "Alabama" for "Ohio State" and you have the SEC sooooooo awesome argument in a nutshell.

So anyways, ink in Ohio State vs Alabama for a playoff game, and Clemson vs OU again in the other two spots, I guess. If I need to really give you a fifth team... Texas :mack:

Is this supposed to be my picks for top 5 or similar to Phil Steele's prediction of what the initial AP top 5 will be? I think I'll give my prediction of what Phil Steele's prediction of what the AP top 5 will be.

Name YOUR 2016 preseason top 5 as you see it--that's what I was asking for. One good thing I see is that a lot of these 'top 5' predicted teams will play each other in the reg season, so we may not have as much controversy this season as we've had in recent years. Ohio State will play you guys, we will play LSU, FSU will play Clemson, etc. A lot will be settled on the field this season, as it should be.

Your Georgia pick is interesting. They definitely have the talent, but lacked discipline under Mark Richt. Kirby was a great DC but he is totally unproven as a HC. To me they are still a wildcard at this point for 2016.
