Trevor Knight is headed to the SEC. Knight, who was granted his release from Oklahoma last month, announced Monday that he will play his final season of college football at Texas A&M. As a graduate transfer, Knight, a quarterback, will be able to play immediately for the Aggies. Knight graduated from OU in December. "We are excited to welcome Trevor to the Aggie family," A&M head coach Kevin Sumlin said in a statement. "We look forward to him joining our team in January and know he will be a great representative of Texas A&M." Texas A&M lost promising young quarterbacks Kyle Allen and Kyler Murray ( to Oklahoma, coincidentally ) to transfer before its bowl game, so the addition of Knight is a welcomed one. Knight lost his starting job to Texas Tech transfer Baker Mayfield before the 2015 season. Mayfield then led the Sooners to a Big 12 title and berth in the College Football Playoff, where they lost in the semifinals to No. 1 Clemson. Knight originally supplanted Blake Bell as Oklahoma’s starting quarterback late in the 2013 season and put up an MVP performance (348 yards, 4 TDs) in the Sooners’ Sugar Bowl win over Alabama. That success against Alabama did not carry over to the 2014 season as many hoped. Knight struggled with 2,300 yards, 14 touchdowns and 12 touchdowns in 2014 while completing just 56.6 percent of his passes. He also missed three games after taking a big hit against Baylor.* Knight saw time in six games for Oklahoma in 2015, including the second half of the Sooners' one-point win against TCU. He came in after Mayfield suffered a concussion and struggled, completing 5-of-16 passes for 76 yards and an interception. Overall in 2015, Knight threw for 305 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions while also rushing for 69 yards and a score. For more Texas A&M news, visit AggieYell.com .
