The Orange Bowl is not an "away" game for us.

Before the creation of the Big 12, the Champs of the Big 7 and Big 8 would usually be the home team in the Orange Bowl. I never have liked the more recent tie-in we have had with the Fiesta, even though I live in Phoenix.

the Fiesta did seem forced. the Cotton would have made more sense, but before Jerry World, that wasn't too great of a destination.

it's cold AF there on New Years Day a lot of the time, and way too early back in the day. that Arkansas game was rough.

i'm not sure who bribed who from the Fiesta to make that a marquee game, but they were proven to be shady a few years ago. they started as secondary place for PAC teams, but the major one was the Rose Bowl

Wonder what OUr record would be if we didn't have to alternate years?
(Remember, same school couldn't go two years in a row).

My computer runs slow on Soonerfans, too..

Hmm. I don't have this problem. Of course, I block ads on Chrome when I'm on a computer.

I'm on mobile most of the time though, using the adblock browser, but it has its own issues.

The "Reply With Quote" isn't even working for me right now, but yes, Rock On, it used to PO me that we couldn't go to the Orange Bowl 2 years in a row, or ANY bowl if I remember correctly, back in the 1950's. I don't remember what year they finally ended that restriction.( but don't feel like looking it up).

Back in the '50's there were only five bowls, I think...4 major and the
Sun. I couldn't find an exact year when the ban was lifted but it was
in the '60's sometime because of a lot more bowls.

There would have been at least 3 more appearances in the mid 50's,
most likely wins, considering we dint lose much of anything, the Domers
notwithstanding....

I'm glad they didn't have any clips from the last time I got tickets to the Orange Bowl.

That wasn't considered the Orange Bowl. It changed when they added 1 more bcs game to the bcs national championship game. The Orange Bowl was played several days before.

When we won in 2000, we got an Orange Bowl trophy and NC trophy. Florida did not get OB trophy in 08.

I still don't understand how the Cotton Bowl dropped from being a major bowl and the Fiesta replaced it. I've read stories and articles but it still baffles me how it could have happened.
I'm glad it's "back" now. My universe has regained some order.

I agree, but part B of the problem is how did the Big8/12 go from being aligned with the Orange Bowl to being transferred to that new prime bowl(Fiesta)!!!
