I was lucky not to suffer any major injuries while I played... 2 things stick out in my mind (besides numerous ankle sprains)...

My first stinger, I remember thinking I had shattered my shoulder, arm, everything. It was the worst pain I could imagine (lol... I was like 13 at the time)

And falling on the ball, in a fumble recovery and the dogpile afterwards. I truly thought I wouldn't take another breath.
