Pinkel's retirement opens up an opportunity at what has of late become, not so much this year, a successful program.

It should be a plum job but . . .

. . . events last week have put the football program under a microscope.

While it is easy to say football players have the power at every Division 1 school, only Missouri players have actually threatened a boycott.

Who can say what issue will motivate the tiger players to do it again?

How will this affect recruiting?

Coaching?

Sure there is always someone willing to take a job (see Kansas) but Mizzou fans have the expectation of well, a pretty decent coach who can produce wins and at least a chance at an SEC East title.

Whoever steps up to succeed Pinkel is going to have to walk a fine line between being in charge and being politically correct.

Good luck with that.

OU players kind of did the strike thing; but wisely just during spring practice. Similar to the way farmers like to strike for their government parity during the winter.
