obama has time tweet about the muslim kid (if he was a white Christian kid would he?) who brought the homemade clock to school and was arrested for a bomb....but not one word about euro-american cops being killed for no other apparent reason than being euro-american police officer?

not arguing whether the school was wrong or right...

SicEmBaylor

Nothing the kid did should have been construed, in any way, as a threat. He made it quite clear over and over and over again that he built the alarm clock because he wanted to start an electronics club. Only the biggest brain dead public school moron would possibly look at anything this kid did and consider it a threat. Every person responsible for what happened to this kid is an absolute bleeding vagina. This is Texas. You're better than this crap.

The real issue here are brain dead government employees and zero tolerance policies that ban the common sense application of the rules and regulations. Zero tolerance policies have done untold harm to this country and will continue to do harm until they're done away with. I want to think this had nothing to do with the fact that he's a Muslim, but I'm not so sure. He should be rewarded by his school not put into cuffs.

How is any kid supposed to feel safe to learn and create when he has to constantly worry that some jackass moron will call the SWAT team because they can't tell the difference between an alarm clock and a weapon of mass destruction? Honestly, I'd be scared to go to school in this day and age. Any little thing can get you sent to jail. Nobody is more anti-education than the government indoctrination camps otherwise known as public "schools."

That's a uh, bold, stand you're taking there.

The White House was right on with that tweet despite the failings of the administration to acknowledge other injustices. You can always say any President should address this issue first or that issue second, but ultimately these sorts of things have to be taken on a case-by-case basis -- the White House was right to side with the kid in a very positive way.

I thought the tweet was classic. Agree with sic'em.

I also tire of reading where Obama didn't say anything about violence against Police. He addresses it.

every time the President talks, he needs to address the important issues first:

-the troops
-cops
-veterans
-whites killed by blacks
-9/11
-illegals
-lines at the VA
-oil
-never forget

then he can talk about how his son could have built that bomb/clock

Got a question? Where was Yalls Outrage, when Little Johnny got suspended for eating a slice of bread into a somewhat shape of a gun?

Ok nuther question, What if it HAD been a Bomb and no one said anything because they were afraid of Offending the little camel jockey?

After all this Time I dont expect any thing from Obammy except to quietly Leave when his time is up.

My outrage was all over facebook, in discussions with friends and family, and likely here. I said quite a bit about that bull****. I said it loud and clear. Want to know where my outrage was? It was on full public display.

Also, great job name calling a little 14 year old kid who has done absolutely nothing wrong beyond his love for science. The inside of my phone looks more like a bomb than that clock does. The kid shouldn't have to quell his intelligence or creativity due to the ignorance and outright stupidity of others.

I swear to God -- this country actively discourages creative and intelligent thought. Idiocracy truly is coming to fruition.

Don't disagree with a word you said but it still doesn't excuse Obama weighing in on this issue when he has remained silent on so many others. Obama is a racist. There is no possible way his actions can lead to any other conclusion.

“I had begun to see a new map of the world, one that was frightening in its simplicity, suffocating in its implications. We were always playing on the white man's court, Ray had told me, by the white man's rules. If the principal, or the coach, or a teacher, or Kurt, wanted to spit in your face, he could, because he had power and you didn't. If he decided not to, if he treated you like a man or came to your defense, it was because he knew that the words you spoke, the clothes you wore, the books you read, your ambitions and desires, were already his. Whatever he decided to do, it was his decision to make, not yours, and because of that fundamental power he held over you, because it preceded and would outlast his individual motives and inclinations, any distinction between good and bad whites held negligible meaning.”

I'll partly agree with you. I think it is perfectly understandable the teacher and school would be concerned and take action if the device was as described (a ticking clock in a briefcase with wires). And that should have nothing to do with the ethnicity of the student (Tim McVeigh ring a bell?). But it should not have gone any further than that and it certainly should not have gotten all the way to an arrest! Any moron could see it wasn't a threat with just a casual inspection. And I have no clue why the kid was suspended unless there is some explicit rule he broke that is made clear to every student. Common sense would say this device might be misconstrued, but this is a 14 yo kid who either a fetus or infant when 9/11 happened and 14 yo are not known for common sense. This should not have gone any further than a blurb in the local paper.

You forgot Kenyan, socialist, muslim.
I didn't vote in 2008 because I knew McCain was just an establishment Republican who was controlled by the same Wall Street corporatists and political neocons that controlled Bush. I didn't vote for Obama just because I didn't trust the Democratic party to ever stop their pandering or vote-buying schemes. I thought I would give Obama a chance to show his populist, pro-civil liberty, pro-middle class bonafides. I actually thought he could use his racial experiences to bridge the race differences in this country.

Boy was I wrong. He has been a divisive ideologue since day one. Race relations are the worst they've been since the Vietnam era. He is in the corporatists' back pocket every bit as much as George Bush was. He has put the Democatic Party's srtategy of pandering to special interest groups and getting people hooked on handouts on steroids and he has been a total disaster at foreign policy.

There is a reason the Democrats are the minority party in Congress and the State legislatures/governor houses now by the largest margins since Calvin Coolidge.. There is a reason Obama hasn't had a net positive favorable opinion about his job performance since his 2nd inauguration. I don't really care whether you blindly loyal supporters keep following him into Brigadoon because that only helps true conservatives in their fight against liberalism. But please, please don't try to blow smoke up everybody's *** by claiming Obama has been a uniter.

That's an incredibly silly and asinine argument. Whether or not he should tweet more on these other issues (the White House shouldn't be tweeting at all) is immaterial to this specific tweet. Failure to mention other issues doesn't mean he shouldn't have made this specific tweet.

Yes, I understand you're saying he should have mentioned those other issues (which he has). In the overall scheme of things, this is just petty quibbling. There are enough legitimate things to complain about when it comes to this Administration without bitching about what tweets he should be sending out.

Let me explain what you did here: By mentioning the tweet about the kid in Irving, the clear implication is that he should have tweeted on these other issues before commenting on this issue. Had you simply posted a thread about how he has failed to tweet on this or that then my response would have been different. But that isn't what you did. I honesty don't think that's the case. I really don't. These school administrators are probably not raving right-wing racists ready to throw any kid with brown skin into jail. Nope. It's definitely not that. I'm not a person who reveres or respects the office of the Presidency like so many people insist we must. The Presidency has become far too imperial for my tastes. The President is a public servant not a sovereign.

I don't like it because Twitter is such a ridiculous plastform and it really prevents any explanation or nuance because of its 140 character limit. We have enough of that in politics -- there's already too much bumpersticker sloganeering.

Many of whom were in this country illegally on expired visas. And others who were raised(and in a one or two cases born) in Europe. Doesn't that make you excited about the current Muslim invasion of Europe?

Bush IS responsible for 9-11 in the same way his predecessors in the White House were when they ignored and failed to enforce immigration laws aggressively. Those laws were put in place to protect this country. If they are not enforced then those whose responsibility is to enforce them are indeed responsible for the harm that befalls this country when that harm is perpetrated at the hands of those who broke our immigration laws.

Hell, we don't need to worry about sanctuary cities....under Reagan, Bush I, Clinton, Bush II and Obama we are a sanctuary country.

No, I'm pretty sure Soonerjeep is like me....he could care less whether Obama tweeted on any issue. What he is pointing out is the obvious bias based on race and ideology that the current Divider in Chief uses when dealing with the population he serves. He wasn't elected to just serve those who agree with him or who he thinks have been given a raw deal in this society. Once he takes the oath of office he is the POTUS of ALL citizens but when he so obviously picks and chooses which races and religions he offers support and empathy to he returns to just being a ****ing community agitator who is unworthy of the position he holds.

And BTW, what kind of ****ing immature moron thinks tweeting on social media is a good way to communicate like a world leader? it will take decades for this country to recover from his and GWB's malfeasance in office.

Have Obama's and his DOJ's atttitudes regarding blacks and the police been a major driving force in the surge of hositiloity and violence toward police officers? If so then these weak attempts by Obama to show he is not anti-police are laughable.

Here's a piece of advice to the black community: with friends like Obama and the progressive Democrats who needs enemies?

Why is there an assumption that the President and the DOJ have fed into any violence against officers? That's poor logic. What has fed into this is the continued poor police work against anyone with skin pigmentation and the growth of this being sent out in the media. See the killing in Tulsa by the Reserve Deputy. See the guy that got killed for selling single cigs. See the lady who got pulled over for DWB and then mysteriously hung herself in her cell. There's too many to mention that form a lot of smoke. All NOT caused by the POTUS or the DOJ. Hell, you could say that the police's attitude toward certain politicians like Deblasio had more to do with it than POTUS or DOJ. And, if you think that the DOJ/Eric Holder played a part then maybe you should have contacted your Congressmen to let them know that letting Loretta Lynch wait in limbo was causing this. Her delay was longer than the last 7 Attorney General nominees COMBINED!!!!!

I really don't know what to say to you. You are a denier this President's obvious flaws because of partisan reasons. I have tried to understand what makes the typical liberal tick. Were you picked on as a kid and think you need a monstrous government to protect you? Do you dislike the predominant Chrisitian-European culture in this country and agree with the progressives' attemtps to raically change it? Are you a single issue guy that adores abortion or the left's stances on homosexual causes? Do you agree that the rich don't deserve what they have and it should be taken from them by force(i.e motivated by jealousy)?

Whatever floats your boat it just makes you look silly to deny that this administration has engaged in anti-police rhetoric. Most policemen feel he has done this. I will trust their judgement on it.

The New England Police Benevolent Association, the area police union that serves law enforcement officials in parts of Massachusetts and New Hampshire, called for a boycott via a written statement from Jerry Flynn, a Lowell policeman who’s on leave to serve as executive director of the organization.
He wrote, the Boston Herald reported: “Our members are enraged at his lack of support of law enforcement. It’s clear that he has an agenda and unfortunately, the police are not part of his agenda.”

Of course we all know what a right-wing area of the country Massachusetts and New England are......right?

Numerous schools have offered to enroll Ahmed, his father said. But Mohamed said he wants to give his son a breather before making a decision. He said his entire family plans to fly to New York on Wednesday, where United Nations dignitaries want to meet his son. Then, if the appropriate visas can be obtained, Mohamed wants to take his son on a pilgrimage to the holy city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia.

"I ask Allah to bless this time. After that, we'll see," Mohamed said.

When they return, a visit to the White House and a meeting with Obama is in the works, he said.

Oh, hell yes I do! I'm liberal because most of my beliefs are on the liberal side. It doesn't mean I march in lockstep. I believe in gun rights, for one.

However, I think I was speaking for most liberals about the pastry pistol. That's a product of school staff being overly fearful of lawsuits and controversy, not of the idea that you can somehow stop kids from playing with pretend guns. (Although in Tamir Rice's case, maybe somebody should have.)

Nothing about the actions of those school administrators was even remotely appropriate. They acted like the brain dead government drones that they are. Oh c'mon Sicem. I expect you to be a little short sighted when it comes to defending the tin-god of coach in Waco. I get that....I really do(loyalty and school pride and all of that). But trying to defend this idiot kid and his family is just moronic. I bet if that kid took that same "clock" into an administrative office at Baylor that campus security would be called. I bet if he took that device into any state or federal government office in the nation that security would be called and he would be interrogated. If my kid went to a school that allowed another student to bring in a device like that without questioning him I would be all over the administrators.

Why are you so willing to indict the school system? They acted very appropriately. This little moron was asked to put the device in his locker and not take it out again. He should have obeyed the teacher's instructions. There is no reasonable basis for criticizing the school system. None. The issue of whether the federal or state government should be in the education business is a separate issue. That is the education system we have and our kids have to go to school per the laws of the state. That means the school has to be responsible for the safety of my child because I have no choice but to send them to public schools.(There are no private schools in Ada.) I would expect them to use reasonable judement in providing a safe, non-stress provoking environament for them to perform his scholastic resposnibilities. I understand the issue of uphoding your principles and working to change things but at some point you have to show some amount of pragmatism.

So what if ISIS or some other radical group uses this as a dry run? Now school teachers are going to be nervous about saying anything to anybody who might bring a similar device into the class room and it turns out that it is the real deal next time. If that happens I think Obama should be forced to resign and every stockholder of Google should sell.

I'm not trying to defend every action his father has made to take advantage of the situation; I'm arguing the school administrators are brain dead morons with a complete lack of common sense executing zero tolerance policies that shouldn't exist in the first place. The first teacher *suggested* that he probably *shouldn't* show it around the school. I don't take that to be a direct command. And what rule did the kid break? Let me reiterate the fact that we're talking about a 14 year old kid who was trying to start an electronics/robotic club at his HS like existed in his MS. I started building PCs as a hobby when I was in 5th grade. My middle school had a massive state-of-the-art technology lab, and I was so excited to take two years of TechEd (shop for geeks) -- I was also a member of the Technology Student Association and our chapter competed around the state. The inside of that lab and the stuff we carried around the school looked a LOT more like a bomb than this kid's clock in a pencil box. And I'm talking a *lot* more like a bomb. The funny thing is that I grew up in a wonderful district with teachers and administrators that had a clue. I never saw the lack of common sense that is so prevalent in today's schools.

There is absolutely no doubt that if any employee of the school actually believed this clock was dangerous, they would have evacuated the school and brought in the bomb disposal unit. Did they? Nope. They handled it, moved it, never evacuated the school, never locked down the school, and they only called a couple of patrol officers to come pick him up. This clearly demonstrates the fact that nobody felt threatened; yet, they call the cops anyway. If they knew there was no threat they should never have called the police. End of story.

The correct action would have been to send him to the office and let the principal explain that it's probably best not to bring those sorts of devices to school, why, and then punish him internally if he does it again. That would have been the end of it.

Ah, so Obama is like any other magistrate, or C-level corporate executive for that matter: "All religions are seen by the people, as equally true; by the philosopher, as equally false; and by the magistrate, as equally useful."

The first part of that formula has flipped 180 degrees in the last 15 centuries. Now every member of "the masses" is convinced his or her own religion is the only true religion.

So, can you point out any of these left wing activist who practice traditional Chrisitian tenets especially if they are colleagues and friends of known communist agitators? I'd be willing to bet you a cool $1000 bucks that Obama's grandparents weren't practicing Chrisitians.

I will agree with you that the teacher who let him keep the device instead of confiscating it showed bad judgement and should be disciplined. The idiot muslim father did this just so he could get a reaction from the school. He knew exactly what he was doing. Texas has a state law that states you can expel students if their parents are perceived to be a threat or to be a disruptive problem by school employees. I think this state law should be used in this case. I'd kick this kid out of school because his dad is a disruptive @$$hole.

I think that's the absolute stupidest law I've ever heard. Punishing kids because of the stupidity of their parents is unjust. What proof do you have that the father manufactured a publicity stunt beyond pure conjecture? I'd be willing to change my mind if you could provide some evidence or proof that he did so -- I mean that in all honesty.

As far as the Muslim thing, I go back and forth. My brain craves a just world where everyone is treated fairly and equally under the law. A world where we all enjoy the exercise of the same liberties, and we are all given a fair hearing under the law. My brain doesn't like the idea of discriminating or judging someone by their race or religion rather than their actual actions. I find that disgusting.

However...my heart is another matter. Sometimes my heart wants to start stoking the furnace fires. Thankfully, I don't listen to my heart.

I am sure this was just another misunderstanding on the school's part:

I would refer you to the concept of Occam's Razor.

Since 2001, several thousand Americans have been murdered or killed by Muslims, who justify their actions by citing the jihad commandments in the religion’s Koran book.

nice journalism there.

really though, strangely enough, i'm at least partially with FaninAma on this one. there are weird inconsistencies. if i "invented a clock" i'm thinking i'd be using a breadboard and an FPGA or something, and not just the guts of some other clock.

it does seem like the whole incident was intended to be provocative.

Yeah, because we know ISIS or another radical Islamic group would never conduct dry runs before actually hijacking planes and crashing them into the WTC or sending a suicide bomber into a crowded market or school. I don't think you're stupid because you're a liberal. I just think you're a liberal because you're stupid.

You think it reasonable to think this geeky kid in Irving, Texas is part of an ISIS dry run and I'm the stupid one? Fvck off.

Yes, if you really think that is not a possibility you are stupid. The Boston Marathon bombers did a lot of pre-attack scouting. The 9-11 hijackers performed dry runs. I don't think it takes a big stretch of the imagination to see a radical Islamic group use an indicent like this to intimidate school officials into inaction with the aid of one of the liberals favorite tools...... political correctness.

A teacher checked it out and assumed responsibility for its safety(inappropriately in my opinon...she/he should have notified the principal much earlier). So why was little Mohammed ushered out in handcuffs? Here's a little hint for you: he was an uncooperative little pr*ck and wanted to create a scene. Any other student who is disruptive in school would have gotten the same treatment. I would not want this family sending their children to the same school as my kid. Not because they are muslim but because they are political activists using the school to make a political statement. Kids have enough to worry about without this moronic distraction. Fvck them and fvck any idiots who take up for them.

Now it is found that the whole thing is a farce... The kids took apart a purchased clock and brought it to school. The family is a nut job. The father ran for president of Sudan 2 or 3 times... I think they were setting this up for embarrassment to local community...

Anyone who sends the police to escort an elementary school kid out of a building needs a massive punch to their bleeding vagina. Any cop with any self-respect would refuse or resign on the spot when asked to do t hat bull****.

I find teachers, school administrators, and cops to be as detestable as the Taliban with IQs low enough to be impossible to measure. The key to America's future, indeed.

Sicem, are you really that naive ? Any school system that doesn't deal with each incident of disruptive behavior according to policy and guidelines is leaving itself open to lawsuits by the parents. This isn't the good ol' "Leave It To Beaver" era where an unruly kid was taken home by his parents and received worse punshment at home than he did at school. More and more parents refuse to accept their role in the discipline of their kids and will deny that their little moron is a discipline problem so schools have had to adopt quite strict and unwaivering guidelines for how they deal with disruptive students and parents. I t pi$$es me off to no end to listen to ignorant media types report a story like this and try to indict the school for doing what it has to do to maintain a safe learning environment without understanding an iota about what they have to put up with. Again, I know your are smarter than this so I will simply conclude you are naive. To counter your naivete I would sentence you to 3 months of community service at principal's office of the inner city high school or junior high school of your choice. Heck, to have your eyes opened it could be basically any high school with more than 20 total students in the student body.

If you want to point a self-rightous boney finger of blame at anybody point it at the real culprit....today's bad parents. Home schooling and private schools aren't going to do sh*t to fix that problem. And that's exactly where I part ways with a lot of conservatives. The real culprit in this country's problems are the voters/citizens themselves. They're just too stupid/selfish to engage in any self examination.
