On a serious note, I've been wondering why this situation can't defeat the big money influence in politics. Why in the internet age does it mean anything for a candidate to have a huge super PAC? A candidate can put out everything about his/her proposed policies and leadership style on the internet for practically free. Maybe it's that phrase about an educated populace being necessary for a successful democracy (and we don't have one)? I'm certainly not going to be swayed by political attack ads and sound bites put out by campaign headquarters (with my DVR, I won't even see them). I don't understand why other people would be either.
