View Full Version : Texas fans are among the dumbest fanbases in the country

A good summary of why:
http://www.foxsports.com/college-football/outkick-the-coverage/the-10-dumbest-fan-bases-in-america-7-the-texas-longhorns-071615

Cliff's notes:
1- Having more money than others doesn't make you better in sports.
2- Having one national title in MBB/FB in the past 45 years is downright depressing.
3- You also only have three Big 12 football titles.
4- But if Colt McCoy's shoulder... Shut up.

Also, Tennessee is dumb:

This is what Tennessee athletics does; it takes good fortune and immediately replaces it with horrible misfortune.

And of course, Arkansas is dumber:

They remind you of the kid in the worst house on the block bragging about his new microwave, it's just trying way too hard.

I agree that if Colt McCoy's shoulder...

... the horns would have lost a closer contest. Even had a chance to pull off the victory, but claiming they *would* have won? Just horn bluster.

While you put forth an undeniable proposition, is it really newsworthy?

As a fanbase that has to deal with the UT breed of fan more often than others I thought we'd offer a better perspective :mack:

The money thing is huge... so huge that one of their own is now using it to alienate the Longhorns themselves.

A recurring theme has been an emphasis on money over anything else, from increases in ticket prices, changes in faculty tickets and a focus on international branding. The concern, sources say, is less the message than Patterson’s approach, sources said. Most of the goodwill surrounding his hire has pretty much been exhausted.

The moo-cows have been humbled for years since Colt McCoy's shoulder. To paraphrase Jesus, "Put your money back in its place...for all who draw the money will die by the money."

It's time to vote with your wallets, whorn. Don't attend games, especially the one in Dallas :D:D:D

The article also mentions how the Sooners own the horns. And I guarantee we are going to own them again when OU fans appear higher on the dumbest fans list - suck it horns!

That couldn't be less true.

Wonder where Okie Lite is on the list? I would say that a fan base as delusional as theirs, and where the loudest cheers at their stadium are when the PA announcer announces that OU is losing is if not pretty dumb, then at the highest level of stupidly jealous. Never seen OU fans get more excited about Texas losing than OU winning just to put it into perspective.

Of course one could make the argument that any fan base that would accept this diluted, diminished Conference, when a much better option was available (SEC) is pretty short sighted and dumb too. Hopefully we can make amends about that down the road. Second chances are hard to come by though.

As long as we're tied to orange aggy(thanks, Boren)there's little chance we can jump to either the SEC SEC SEC or the PAC 12.

DB may be faced with making he decision in the best interest of the University ofOklahoma, which may not be in the best interest of Aggie State.
Sometimes circumstances require that you know. There's already been a degree of angst among OU supporters of his earlier decision.

Yeah, that's what he SHOULD have done re the Pac 12, of course, but I can't imagine him EVAR not trying to drag along the orange aggies.

DB is a politician at heart. If the Big 12 dissolves, here's his OU to SEC argument that doens't include OSU:

"SEC has no buyout in their contract, so if there was an opportunity for OU and OSU to join the same major conference again, we could easily do this. And of course, we will keep all annual sports head-to-head matchups with OSU that we had under the Big 12."

And then, we never leave the SEC and OSU never joins a major conference. Problem solved, other than having games in Stillwater occasionally :P

Also, don't get your hopes up for OU or OSU to be on the dumbest fanbase list. He did one of these a few years ago and you can expect a heavy Big Ten/SEC contingent near the top
