It was just a formality, but the Board of Regents approved Riley's contract.

He'll receive a total of $500,000 a year with a potential 10% bonus for winning a national title. His base salary is $265,000 with an additional $235,000 in "Additional and outside income from unrestricted private funds for personal services, fund raising and all other university related activities". Not a bad gig, if you can get it!

Heupel was making just over $600K.

Is he doubling as QB coach or is somebody else tasked with that role?

I really like the hire. He started recruiting the second he joined the staff and commented about the significance of having OU on your shirt when you walk into a kids school or house. I think it helps getting some younger coaching on the staff who can better relate to the kids.

Welcome Coach Riley
...May your playcalling confound the most elaborate of defenses
...May your QB's throw arrows as accurate as a Sam Bradford Heisman performance
...May your backs run with the legends of yesteryear: Vessels, Pruitt, Washington, Sims, Peterson
...May your o-line move mountains with speed and strength
...May your receivers get separation and many YAC, AFTER WATCHING THE BALL IN & CATCHING IT
Go forth, and hang half a hunnerd!!!

We live 30 miles down the road from ECU, and know lots of ECU fans, and hear all their press. Our friends are all very complimentary, and heap high praise on Coach Riley. They are all convinced that he is headed for big things, and that he will be coaching in the NFL in just a few years. I hope that they are right, and that he does a great job coaching at OU.

Welcome Coach Riley!

Great to have Coach Riley aboard.........until the first time the offense lays an egg then he will of course need to be fired.

Does anybody know where Lincoln Riley went to high school without googling it? Hint: It was the same high school I attended.

West Muleshoe Polytechnic?

That's the one. Go Mules. His dad graduated 4 years before me. We actually sucked in football when his dad was playing.

I lived in Muleshoe as an oilfield brat growing up.

Lincoln Riley is very impressive. He told the players "I respect what you've done, but I don't care what you've done"

LOL. Must have changed since I graduated. They do have a very good football program now. A guy by the name of David Wood has been their coach for several years. They even won a state title in 3A which is quite an accomplishment and they make it to regionals and beyond each year.

Oh man, it was a long time ago, I was just a little kid. It was in the late 50's and brief. My Dad was looking to buy some land so he could grow cotton.

i was there in the late 60's through 75.
