I'm sure it's easy to bitch when you get all those tax payer funded days of leave already

lol...you're taking 8th place...going have to ignore you as well I guess. I actually DON'T get paid for those days...nor the summer....but keep thinking that. I get 10 sick days a school year.

you don't get paid for your 10 sick days?

what days are you talking about?

yes, I do...I'm also a professional, degree, masters, 25 years teaching. Just like any other PROFESSIONAL who gets vaca time/sick time. Like I told 8th, if I charged what a daycare does I'd make about 20K more a year...that's just for babysitting. I've never complained about my job, pay or time.

I'm guessing you are a business person...own it? You're ok with the president requiring you to give your employees 1 hour for every 30 hours worked? burger flippers, maids, etc...

There are advantages to going to school, getting a degree and working hard.

Obviously you'll believe what ya want. i don't feel guilty at all for my job...like your president said...better thank a teacher for building your business...ya didn't do it yourself~ lol

You can thank your union for that

It does seem like teachers are not appreciated in the current public mindset. State government is quick to make cuts to balance budgets and the general mood of the public is less than supportive. My wife is a school teacher and her education would command a lot more compensation in the private market. Everyone constantly points to the benefits, but certainly some motivation is required to draw folks into the field. The teacher unions in my experience are not aggressive, certainly not in New Hampshire.Somehow society needs to get some focus back into education. Not sure why anyone would want to get into this profession right now?

I think the dumbass in the Oval Office is intentionally trying to provoke a Constitutional crisis. He knows his approval rating will not sink much lower than 38%(i.e. The number of lobotomized morons who would be okay if he was caught participating in child pornography).

The next 2 years will be very interesting.

I don't belong to the union.

East Coast...totally agree. I definitely agree that about getting back into what is being taught. Unfortunately the majority of Americans just put their head into the sand and let those that want to be in control of education be in control. School districts try to get by with a lot and only when a parent raises a stink do they back off...SOMETIMES.

I'm use to 8th and the libs bash on teachers...thinking we have it easy peasy. I've work every summer for 25 years, or gone to school...which I had to pay for and only after about 6 years after finishing did it actually "pay off". I chose to teach for a variety of reasons, summers off and high pay was NOT some of them.

As far as retirement...yes, I'll do good. The issue is I have no choice...so to complain about that, talk to the state.

FIA,
I posted a thread earlier that 8th and the like ridiculed. I'm not saying obama's vision is to have total collapse so that he can suspend elections in 2016....but it doesn't seem so far fetched with some of the crap he is doing.

major amnesty
breaking small businesses (obama care and now this)
arrogant enough to say he doesn't GAS he'll use executive order....

You just make sh!t up as you go. LIBERALS and I bash on teachers? Where do you get this crap at? It's CONSERVATIVES who bash on teachers, dumbass. YOUR PARTY! Who says there are too many lazy, worthless teachers and teachers shouldn't have tenure? Who took tenure away from teachers in the state you live in? YOUR PARTY. Hell, if it wasn't for liberal and unions you wouldn't make the money you do make and have the benefits you do have, including your retirement. I bash on you for being a CONSERVATIVE AND YOU HAVE A GOVERNMENT JOB. How many times do I have to tell your dumbass inbred *** that? I bash on you for being a LEMMING, not the animal but: A person who unthinkingly joins a mass movement, especially a headlong rush to destruction: http://www.oxforddictionaries.com/us/definition/american_english/lemming and running out and jerking down those R levers who now want to raise your taxes and raid school funding to pay for tax cuts to for the wealthy - you know - trickle down supply side economics. I posted a thread on here that showed what the very people you voted into office think of you here in kansas - government workers do not add to the economy, they are TAKERS. But as a typical cowardly conservative republican, you didn't have the balls to answer what YOUR party thinks about you. Good luck on the retirement when YOUR PARTY raids kpers to pay for yet more tax cuts for chuck. As for you totally moronic - obama is going to declare martial law and not give up the presidency - you are a fvucking moron no wonder you teach in under privileged schools where everyone know the worst teachers are sent.

Hate to break it to you 8th but conservatives haven't been in control of the GOP for a long time. Plenty of them talk conservative to get elected but turn out not to be so. Like GW Bush's "we have to set aside the free market to save the free market" stance. Uh, no, we don't have to set aside free market principles, the too big to fail businesses need to be allowed to go to bankruptcy and take their lumps, not be saved by the taxpayers. Hence the tea party.

Almost as many big government types in the GOP as the dems. Conservatives are not against teachers they are against the biggest union out there, the NEA.

Conservatives are not against teachers they are against the biggest union out there, the NEA.Conservatives have been in control of the GOP since goldwater, it's just the goal post of what is a "real" conservative have been moving ever since. Mainly in an effort to make excuses for failed CONSERVATIVE policies. If we had not "set aside the free market to save the free market" this second republican depression would have made the last one look like a weekend visit to a spa with happy endings. Keynesian economics works, trickle down supply side "economics" is not even an economic policy it is a political policy, developed not by an economist but by Jude Wanniski who was a journalist, conservative commentator, and political economist. From 1961 to 1965 he worked at The Las Vegas Review-Journal as a political columnist, where he taught himself economics as he learned card counting. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jude_Wanniski You did see what happened when Lehman Brothers declared bankruptcy? Lending came to standstill and the economy dived into a deeper collapse. As distasteful as it is, we did not have a choice in bailing them out. The real problem is these firms have given so much money and lobbied so hard they are now, again, covered by the government. Kansas's own dumbass yoder slipped it into the Cromnibus bill to have the fdic cover losses on financial swaps, the same thing that got us into trouble in '08. Do you really think that the bailouts lead to teabaggers? They are an astroturf group funded by the kochs.

Have you heard of the Cloward-Pivin strategy? Cloward and Pivin were 2 liberal sociologists who taught at Columbia(anybody else we know who has spent time at Columbia?) who proposed blowing up the current entitlement system by overwhelming it with debt. After the system collapses they proposed the government and I assume elitists like themselves could remake our economic system into one that was "more fair" and which had "experts" assigning the worth of jobs and professions.

Read this and see if it doesn't shock you about how it describes what is going on.

yes, 8th, conservatives have been in control since the 60's that is why we are still on the gold standard, the government has gotten smaller and less people are dependent on welfare. Put down the kool-aid and drink the Tea.
