Can't blame him.

I wish him the best. I would say this is good news, as we'll have an extra scholarship, but I'm not sure we'll be able to bring in an extra stud this offseason.

Hope Sooner Dave has a great career at the school of his choosing. Don't blame him for wanting some playing time. Good luck kid.

I've followed David since he was a high school recruit. For those that don't know, he is from Illinois, so this would be a homecoming of sorts for him. He had a tough childhood and overcame a severe speech impediment. The kid is as hard a worker as you'll find, and was all-in during his time at OU.

I hate that he is leaving, but I can absolutely understand. I hope he becomes a super star at Illinois and goes on to do great things.

that's kinda sad. he tore it up when he made it to the field.

i guess this probably means Mixon is staying around?

Apparently David Smith believes he is.

Mixon is staying, but even if he wasn't we're going to be loaded at the position next year:

Samaje Perine
Keith Ford
Alex Ross
Daniel Brooks
Rodney Anderson (incoming 4 star freshman)

The chances that he would ever see the field again, had he stayed, were slim.
