"Other" means who ever wins the job. I still believe TK won the job fair and square this season and he could very well win it again. The offense needs some work in many areas and TK (or successor) needs to play better.

Thats the way I see it
Mayfield looked the best in the spring game but couldnt play
I still say we let a Good one slip away in Kendall

TK, assuming he's the best option. I probably should have said "other", as I just want the best possible player, but I'm not convinced Mayfield is the guy. I think he's a fine back-up, but I wasn't that impressed with his at Tech. There's a reason he didn't have an offer.

Other. I'm a firm believer though that if the coaching staff thought that Trevor was not the best we have to offer, he would not be playing.

If we are truly a read option or play action offense, I'd like to see whoever gets the job learn to sell his fakes. With Trevor when handing off, I rarely ever see him run it out...when passing, it's generally just a quick "pump" at the RB and then he drops back. It's a lot easier to get by with a few more mistakes (like locking on to your reciever) when you can draw the linebackers up a few steps. IMO, that's an easy fix with a little coaching.

Our run game is better than it has ever been under stoops in my opinion, and it is tragic that we are not crushing teams with our play action pass game.

Knight........unless someone beats him out as the starter.

He's only a soph. I'll still cut him some slack.

Not sure he's dual threat, but the line would do anything to keep his jersey clean.

I believe with the right staff Trevor could develop into an elite college quarterback.

Urban meyer took a fat slowfooted white guy who couldn't throw a clean spiral for ten yards and made him into one of the most prolific QB's of all time.

Every QB under Chips Kelly's Tenure at Oregon has thrived , only to fade into obscurity when leaving.

Remember when ESPN thought Colt Brennan (under the direction of offensive genius June Jones) was the next great QB to transcend professional football?

Mark Sanchez, after regressing in the last three years under the incompetent Rex Ryan, is now a potential legit starter for the Eagles under Kelly, who by the way also made Nick Foles look like a world beater.

The point is, coaching matters. Trevor has an unbelievable amount of athletic ability, both his feet and arm are more than capable of winning titles on the collegiate level. The fact that Huepel has been completely incapable of making anything of him, as well as being unable to develop Blake Bell and Landry Jones, are more a sign of the fact that he has no idea what he is doing, rather than us just whiffing on QB's the last 6 years.

So, to answer the question, if Huepel is replaced with a competent OC, I would love to see Knight getting another shot, and believe that he would be highly productive.

I still think TK is our best option. They just need to teach him to look AWAY from his intended target...if only for a second. Of course I drink a lot of beer, so what the h*ll do I know!:chuncky:

TK may be the best we have and if thats the case its a shame. Sorry, but he's just not that good. Just like some were trying to pump up ISU as being a decent team when the truth is they suck. TK seems like a great kid and a decent player but he's probably average at best. Mayfield is probably above average but maybe not much. Hard to say at this point. He showed flashes at TT but if he was all world he probably would still be there. At this point, its' hard to get too excited about it. If we still have the same OC then I'm not sure it matters.. whoever is qb will have an uphill battle against 2 different forces.

I put other because I'm sure that the offseason will be open competition and the end result will be the best guy gets to start.

Clarification: The best guy who is eligible to play will start. :P

It seems kind of late for TK to improve much. He only has two years of his five year career left after this season. He has mechanical issues with his throwing and problems with decisions. He is capable of having terrific games like vs. Alabama, but he will also stink up the field like other average qbs. His longer throws are sometimes plain awful.

Saturday should be interesting. If Thomas has a good game, fans will be hailing him as our savior. Nobody has mentioned Justice Hansen. Isn't he supposed to be the most talented of the entire lot?

Urban did a lot with Tebow, but he could not cure his lispy, girlish voice, or his attention-seeking behavior, so that is a big strike against him.

i think our losses thus far have a lot more to do with "other things" than Trevor alone....though he is frustrating for this Sooner fan.

i'd like to see a spirited competition for 3rd down and long defense calls, maybe. the one we have sucks.

edit:

i don't love Josh as our OC based on results maybe but i don't know much about running a college football offense at Oklahoma...i got other things to worry about.

but i do think if i'm going to throw him under the bus....him having won a national championship for Oklahoma as a player........i could spell his name correctly.

dig?

Blake Mayfield was 7-0 at Tech until his injury. Tech is 4-11 since. He was clearly our best in the spring game. I think he's the best we have. Knight has had two years to solidify his position. The fact that we are having this discussion proves he hasn't done it. We need consistency from the QB which we haven't had since Sam Bradford.

TK is clearly ahead of Thomas right now, and Baker sucked at Tech. I don't know much about Hansen, so I'd imagine it's either him or Knight.

Personally, I hope Hansen is the starting QB next year. If he beats out Knight, that means he's badass, and is probably our next Heisman trophy candidate.

Of course, that's wishful thinking. Knight is pretty clearly our guy.
