We're pretty much middle of the road (being polite here), except for KO returns (1st), Red Zone Offense (3rd)--when offense can even get in the red zone, TO Margin at 8th (thank goodness), and rushing D is acceptable at 25, but the passing yards allowed is absolutely abysmal at 107 and not acceptable, as is our 3rd down offensive conversions at 96 and 3rd down defensive conversions allowed at 73rd (no secret here). The time of possession is just a joke at 88th but that has a direct relationship to our awful 3rd down conversion pct. What's somewhat surprising is our punt returns rating is at a putrid 106 and the Barnett's net punting is at 67th. 1st downs allowed (D) and 1st down converted (o) is just not very good either and certainly not acceptable.
I guess these halfway stats would be acceptable if our strength of schedule was in the top 10, but I don't think that's the case/don't really know.

For a 5-1 team these stats look average at best, but I guess if we're d*&n lucky to beat an awful Whorns team by less that a TD, it's ok to whistle all the way to the bank and celebrate by eating Fletcher's corn dogs.

Scoring "Offense" should have an *. How many non-offense TDs do we have - 5 or 6?

Total defense, damn

Total defense, damn I would be glad if "bend and don't break" could be logically applied here, but with our scoring D being a pedestrian 41st, I don't think that's the case.
If TOs dry up, from these stats it looks like we're SOL, unless our O makes an absolutely miraculous 2nd half turn-around.
I do think too many people try and separate the relationship between the offense and the defense, both in the stats and the psychological effects on the individual players.
If Herple and the O do make some kind of magical 2nd half recovery and come back from the "Walking Dead", I do think the defense will come around, stats wise.

Isn't that exactly what happened last season?

Aerosmith lyrics seem weirdly apropo here:

Livin' on the edge
You can't help yourself from fallin'
Livin' on the edge
You can't help yourself at all
Livin' on the edge
You can't stop yourself from fallin'
Livin' on the edge

Tell me what you think about your sit-u-a-tion
Complication - aggravation
Is getting to you

If chicken little tells you that the sky is fallin'
Even if it wasn't would you still come crawlin'
Back again
I bet you would my friend
Again & again & again & again & again

This team definitely not what I had hoped it would be, though I did have a lot of questions entering the year with all our youth on offense. I have adjusted my expectations downward accordingly, so hopefully now I will be able to enjoy the rest of the season and take comfort in those times where we play well, which will inevitably come towards the end of the season. Thus raising my hopes again for next year. :)
