There is a thread on LT saying Mayfield waiver has been denied and he will also lose the year of eligibility. Angry posts ensued …

Meanwhile Texas Tech struggled late Thursday at Stillwater. Oh if only your bozo wearing sunglasses on the sideline gave his Big 12 freshmen offensive player of the year a scholarship but nooooo hey diddle diddle dick him along till he finds a new home and now suddenly he's a Tech quarterback again that can't transfer without penalty.

EDIT: Link here (http://www.tulsaworld.com/sportsextra/ou/football/source-baker-mayfield-s-appeal-has-been-denied-by-ncaa/article_b0ad0128-650e-5b6d-81d6-4419d3bbece1.html). He will have 3 years to complete 2 years of eligibility. Texas Tech once again dicked around with him when the appeals process went through them rather than the NCAA.

A second attempt to get Texas Tech to release him was denied by the Big 12 school as well.

Here is your team to cheer for besides OU for the rest of the season:
Oct 4: Kansas State
Oct 11: West Virginia
Oct 18: Kansas
Oct 25: TCU
Nov 1: Texas
Nov 15: Oklahoma (like, cheer twice as hard I guess?)
Nov 22: Iowa State
Nov 29: Baylor

Seriously, beat the hell outta them. 2-10. Make it happen

I have an unrivaled hatred of Tech at this moment.

I am looking for a Jefferson-style beatdown of Tech in response:

Wow, after looking at this, I seriously think they might only win 2 more games. Any idea which of these are home/road games?

It's not even a given they beat KU. They get them at home so you figure Tech can win that one but KU was able to run the ball some against the Whorns which Tech has shown they can't stop. They ISU on the road so this could get really ugly for TT.

If you're curious here you go (http://www.texastech.com/sports/m-footbl/sched/text-m-footbl-sched.html). The Baylor game is Arlington

The conference rules are one thing, and I think that's where he loses a year of eligibility. But the NCAA is another. I would like to see the reasoning behind their decision.

2-3 years from now, Baker may be able to appeal for that third year back if he wants it, and Tech isn't going to be able to do sh!t.

on a somewhat related note, kudos to Mike Leach for his come from behind 28-27 victory over Utah. Wazzzzzzu that's whoooo :D

There is a thread on LT saying Mayfield waiver has been denied and he will also lose the year of eligibility. Angry posts ensued … I can see him being denied playing this year. I can see it, but don't necessarily agree with it since he wasn't on scholly and went to school on his own dime.
However losing a year of eligibility is complete and total BS. I would also like to hear the reasoning behind this.

Big 12 rule for transferring in the conference. It can be waived by the school if they so choose, no way KK does anything that magnanimous. I do think its crap that the rules apply to walkons the same as scholly players. Walkons should be free to do whatever they want.

Was it a 100 percent chance of eligibility or just a 65-40?

At least a small something went right with Mayfield. I have to think over the next two years, he'll get his 3rd year back, somehow.
