Two-star tight end Hunter Herndon posted his recruiting mail lot on Twitter Monday morning, and included in it was a diploma from the University of Oklahoma. Well, it wasn’t a real diploma, it was actually an offer from that school that was made to look like a diploma. Just got offered by OU #Boomer #Big12 pic.twitter.com/nN9mSOemV4 — RICH HOMIE (@hunterherndon10) August 11, 2014 So, is this a thing now? We’ve seen some interesting recruiting pitches over the years, but this is certainly the first that plays to the classroom aspect of recruiting. It definitely sets Oklahoma apart from the typical offer letter and it does allow the Sooners to show they value athletic ability and academic ability. After all, the bottom of the diploma reads: “We have completed a thorough evaluation of you as a student-athlete and we sincerely believe that you possess the talent necessary to succeed on the football field and in the classroom.” Every offer letter makes you feel special, but I supposed this one makes you feel smart, too. It’s interesting that Herndon posted this offer considering he’s already committed to Rice.
