View Full Version : House Republicans vote for business tax cut with no offset add $287 BILLION to defici

Sooner8th

Wouldn't pass extension for long term unemployed or president's request for $3.7 billion to respond to children crossing the border or $11 billion to keep highway projects afloat for less than a year and the roughly $35 billion Senate measure to revamp the veteran's health care system without offsets. Combined, those measures are still less than a fifth of the tax cut bill. But tax cuts for big business that don't create jobs? Don't have to pay for those. Tell me again how republicans are worried about the debt and deficit and how they are not the party of big business.

They (conservatives on this board) never said the R's aren't the party of big business. If they will admit to big business being a problem, which some do, they point out that most Dems are in the pockets (the left side pockets, I suppose) of big business as well (which they are). Still haven't seen any perp walks by Wall Street banksters, have you?

There are some on here who say pubs aren't. WS spreads it around too much, a function pacs and super pacs. We shouldn't be taking it, but we do try, but always fail to rein them in. I totally agree on the perp walks, they knew those investment instruments were no good - outright fraud. Then they whine about how they are treated.

Haven't seen any perp walks either, but ALL the big banks are paying
pretty hefty fines for their individual dealings in the '08 meltdown....
Bank of America, Citibank, Wells Fargo all come to mind...in addition
to that UBS and some giant French bank have been nailed with helping
in tax avoidance. Any body know where all those fines go?

Explain why every tax break you want to give "creates jobs".

Explain and justify why every conservative "job creator" thinks they shouldn't have to pay taxes.

Someone has to pay for the streets, police, military, schools that facilitate the people who make money make it.

showing your ignorance again:?...and how old are you?...it's really funny reading your responses to Vet. I'm guessing you should be over 55..married 36 yrs I believe you said that in another thread...wife was 50 at some point. Your childish responses to what vet says says a lot more about you than what you type. If you really don't care you shouldn't respond.

Me being Catholic I take offense to your statement...and since you are not Catholic you shouldn't claim know what Catholics do. Like a good lib you give a generalization and blanket statement, fed to you by the main stream lib media. That's what is so fascinating about the mental state of most libs...they claim that all have the right to believe what they want...unless it is conservative.

It is worse up here in Kansas, taxes for S corps were eliminated, guess who is a S corp, and sales tax rate went up. Now our county is looking at eliminating property taxes and changing it to sales tax. Guess who's idea that is.

HAHAHAHA too funny again - READ AND LEARN

The House bill, sponsored by House Veterans’ Affairs Chairman Rep. Jeff Miller (R-FL), takes a different approach. It would fund the temporary outside-care program only “to the extent that appropriations are available,” thereby leaving most of the responsibility for funding the program to congressional appropriators.4 Appropriations would be subject to spending caps previously agreed to in the BCA and the recent budget compromise negotiated by Budget Chairmen Sen. Patty Murray (D-WA) and Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI). Because of this, additional appropriations for the Veterans Health Administration would need to be offset by other reductions in discretionary spending, unless Congress acted to waive or otherwise modify the BCA caps.

I agree with most of that. Too bad the business wing of your party won't go along. :grumpy:

What we agree on is populism. If only we could get all the populists on both sides of the spectrum to work together, we could fix a lot of our problems. Any ideas?

The only thing on your list I even partially disagree with is about the illegal aliens. I'm not strongly concerned about immigration, but to the extent that it is a problem then I agree that the most useful first step is prosecuting the businesses that hire them.
